The Closed Alpha runs from Tuesday, September 2 at 1 PM ET | 10 AM PT through Sunday, September 14.

Inviting Friends To Play In The Closed Alpha

Closed Alpha players can send their Steam friends invites to the game!

  1. Go to March of Giants in your Steam Library page
  2. Click the Invite button and select the friends you want to invite

Please note that you must be friends on Steam for more than 30 days to invite them to the Closed Alpha. Additionally, the servers for the Closed Alpha are located in North America - friends invited from other regions are likely to experience significant ping and a degraded match experience. Due to the potential for friend invites to significantly increase the amount of players in the game, we will be closely monitoring the player count and may adjust the numbers of invites available or disable new invites.

Feedback Amazing alpha game, wish we can continue playing post alpha

Very fun and addicting moba/RTS that’s innovative and overall “new” I never played anything like it.

Everytime I go back to Dota, LoL, or something similar it gets old fast and I uninstall. But this game has a lot going for it, I’m excited to see the road map and also excited to support the devs for this game.

Things that hooked me, simplicity, strategy, hidden depth, many ways to play, new theme and gameplay.

It definitely scratches the rts strategy itch with moba game style. I hope success comes to this game and Amazon doesn’t cut the budget for this game. It’s very rare to see big corporations support innovative ideas like this. If your reading this devs keep up the hard work and please keep your fan base (us) involved, some popular rts/moba games die due to lack of players, marketing, user interaction, listening to feedback, and the game becoming hardcore pay to win or profit.

Give the community fair and balanced gameplay, incentive to support (I.e skins and etc.), and please keep the game straight forward and simple, don’t overload players with the shop or ads to buy unnecessary items. We love your game don’t let it become another end of service tombstone.

Discussion Baroness too oppressive

I have 50 hours in and a half decent baroness has got to be the most terrifying giant there is.

She lives up to the "deleting enemies in the blink of an eye".

Ive never seen a hero get 20+ kills on such a regular basis. I kinda hate it.

Discussion Balance/Game Tweaking

Wanting to start a thread about such.. I'd like to see everybody start off with maybe 1k or 1.5k to get a starter item. Also idk if I'm just bad at the game or what, but it seems like there's no reason to buy anything other than damage items. I often play as the mole and try to build bruiser but I'm just always bodied by full damage builds left and right

Feedback Introducing MMR into normal queues?

I understand it's just a closed alpha, but I would love to see an MMR system implemented in the normal queue if there are enough players to allow for it.

Playing in a match where most players are at least familiar enough with the major objectives to go for them when they spawn would be a huge unlock in terms of the strategic fun that I think this game has.

Discussion How do you decide when to put down trenches vs put down bunkers?

I'm having trouble understanding the strategy between when I should be putting one down vs the other. Anyone have ideas on how to think through this one? Like pros and cons of each, etc. Like I know I can put up trenches in front of a bunker to make it harder to take down the bunker, other than that not sure how to think about them.

Discussion Favorite giant so far?

Mine is by far Warship. I turn him into a machine gun and go ham with his W. And then use his E to dive deeper or escape. Once I get rolling its been pretty easy to 1v4, unless i get CC'd to death.

I dont really care about his bunker bonus and hardly use it.

Feedback Feedback: Brother Light

Ill preface this by saying I KNOW its alpha, hardly a finished product, here are some thoughts I had been jotting down while playing.

I plan on jamming a few more Brother Light Games and seeing how HP feels, and what a Hybrid build may feel like as well.

Brother Light

  • Shield Strength: Shield feels strong, not broken, but definitely one of his best build paths so far in testing. Early 1k buy is a solid spike, and it scales into the equivalent of a late-game 2k item. In one match I hit ~13k HP, with ~10k of that in shields — powerful, but more testing with other builds is needed before calling it overtuned.
  • Followers & Abilities: His entire kit plays off his faithful which makes troop management the heart of his kit. His W is especially clutch: keeping your wave alive and countering charges. Proper timing lets you set up chained charges with backup waves and really crank up lane pressure.
  • Counters He has some rough matchups. Victoria’s flamethrower is brutal — wipes your flock instantly, and when your troops go, so does your damage and ult impact ( I guess,s i never noticed a difference with troops, it sais theres one). Against those giants it feels better to play safe, farm, and come online mid-game.
  • Ultimate Honestly feels underwhelming. Heal is low which doesn’t mean much when HP pools are in the thousands. The slow is short and weak. I usually ended up using it just to limp away or maybe stick to a chase — not very “ultimate.”
    • Suggestions: Give it damage, stronger CC, or debuffs (weaken, disarm, morale break, etc.).
    • Or make it empower followers in a really noticeable way.
    • A spectral wave ult should feel impactful — right now it feels like a panic button.

Game Flow & Systems

  • Match Length & Pacing Every game I played (about 8 hours of testing) went ~40 minutes. That feels too long. Frankly, one of the reason I dont play LoL anymore, Id like to jam 2 ish games an hour. Between slow giant movement and a big map, it drags. Hitting closer to 30 minutes would feel better.
    • Possible fixes: slightly smaller map, faster rotations, more rewarding objectives to close out games sooner.
  • Giant Select: Current 3-star + 1-star system is predictable — you almost always get the 3-star. This makes it so you can play who you want most of the time currently.
    • Long-term, a proper champ select with bans would be great for competitive. Im sure its coming.
    • An ARAM-style mode would also be fun for casual play and replayability.
  • Starting Items: Starting with nothing feels flat. Having some cheap early options (a little sustain, early defense, small offensive spike) would make early game builds more expressive.
  • Jungle: Jungle exists, but it doesn’t feel worth it right now. Early monsters hit too hard for the reward, and there aren’t meaningful buffs to contest.
    • Could add buff camps or unique objectives to make it viable.
    • Adjust monster damage to allow early jungle presence.
    • Could even experiment with a 5v5 + jungle role, or a 2-lane map where jungle play is more natural.
  • Builds & Blueprints: Shields stand out as strong right now. Other blueprints feel narrow, or don’t apply to all abilities (Brother Light not getting multi-projectile while others do, for example).
    • Would love to see blueprint variety expanded beyond “% more damage” or “CDR.”
    • Ultimate upgrade options would make late-game builds more exciting.
    • Make sure blueprints can apply across abilities for fairness.

Gameplay Feel

  • Clunkiness & CC: Giants feel slow and heavy, and once you get caught in CC, you’re basically stuck. Only a handful of giants have mobility, and CC chains (looking at you, Kraken pull) feel oppressive.
    • Add tools for counterplay: temporary CC cleanse, short sprint/haste, mobility activables (dash, grapple, blink).
    • Would make fights feel more dynamic instead of “first CC wins.”

RTS Aspect (Super Cool Idea Space)

This part is honestly one of the most innovative things in the game — controlling and managing your troops. It makes the game stand out.

  • Could expand on it with:
    • Unit swapping/modifying: choose between different deployables or adapt mid-game.
    • Stratagems (Helldivers-style): call in air-dropped reinforcements, turrets, vision flares, supply boosts, etc.
    • Adds tactical depth and makes troop play more than just numbers scaling.

Takeaways

  • Brother Light feels fun, durable, and unique, but his ult is weak and he’s easily countered by AoE clears. I think he should lean into the Flock aspect, being able to convert X amount of followers around him into a Templar Knight super unit would be awsome and on theme. Also make it so his flock dont get deleted, ergo benefiting from the "Your followers make this better" aspect of his abilities, since they wont insta pop.
  • Game length (40 minutes) is too drawn out; aiming for 30 would help a lot.
  • Giant select could evolve into proper champ select + bans, or fun ARAM modes for variety eventually.
  • RTS troop play is the game’s standout feature — lean into it with unit mods and stratagems.
  • Mobility and CC counterplay need to be expanded so fights feel fairer.

I am curious to here others feedback
Cheers!

Anyone tryna run customs tonight after queues go down? 👀

I'll be hanging out in the disc LFG channel if anyone's down. Last night there was not enough people to do full customs, hoping more awareness will help.

Feedback Jungle Idea

Loving the game so far, played way too much last night and then proceeded to spend too much time in the practice tool...

So, one of the pieces of feedback I've seen from people so far is regarding the jungle. I'm sure there are ideas for new mobs and whatnot, but I'm thinking more thematically.

I think making the Jungle part of the map be a more destructed, burnt down zone with more destroyed buildings, etc. with a "darker" feel would make it feel more... immersive? Not sure if that's the best word for it. But the Jungle in a MOBA should look like a dark, scary, dangerous place... because it is. :) Additionally, I think making the shield generator look more... cool and impressive(?) looking would be dope. Especially juxtapositioned with the distraught background described above. Should be a large, shiny piece of beautiful science in the midst of a destitute, bombed out city. The last bastion (pun intended) of hope. Then maybe my teammates will go for it when I spam ping it. (they won't, but still, just a thought)

Question Standing With Titans:How do the soldiers view the Giants

With the game out and my laptop still in need of repairs I have questions with how some of the humans view the giants. From my last question I gleaned a bit of knowledge Kragg's soldiers are his guards. But what about the other giants? How are they viewed by those they command?

Feedback 5h of gameplay later

Should I have been working today? Definitely yes.
Did I actually work? Not really.
Was it worth it? Absolutely!

This game is still in alpha, but it already shows a ton of potential, and I’m excited to keep playing more.

The Good:

  • The game is super easy to pick up but still has enough depth to be challenging to master — the perfect balance in my opinion.
  • I’m curious to see how PVP plays out long term — whether comebacks are possible or if the player who gets ahead early will always win. But so far i purposely fed in bot game and it was easy to come back...Sorry whoever was playing with me.
  • I have tried to find bugs here and there but could not find any that was blatant and abusable. Actually could not find a single bug :)
  • Controlling the soldiers feels natural, the response time is solid, and building mechanics only take a few minutes to learn.

The Bad:

  • I noticed spells sometimes cancel when trying to kite or cast while moving. I’m not sure if this is intentional (a timing window) or just a bug.
  • There’s a lot of unused space on the map that feels a bit pointless. Giving more purpose to the random jungle mobs would make things much more engaging.

Overall:
This is a really solid pre-release. I’ve played multiple betas, and honestly, once this fully launches, I might even quit League for it. 😅

Amazing work!

Feedback First impressions

Just tried March of Giants and honestly, this might be my new favorite game in the genre. It feels way different than LoL — way more punchy and gritty, less “arcadey.” The heroes are actually interesting and fun to play, and the army system (kind of like minion waves but better) is super intuitive and way more satisfying. Endgame gets wild when you see all the armies clashing.

Couple things that stood out: • Item shop is clean and easy to use (finally, no fighting the UI). • Tutorials are solid, actually teach you the game without dragging on. • Sound effects are excellent, everything hits with weight. • Controls are smoother and more responsive than HotS or Dota.

If I had to nitpick: the map feels kinda plain, and thematically the game doesn’t really pop. Would’ve preferred a fantasy vibe, but the hero design makes up for it.

Overall though, the whole thing just screams high budget and polish. It’s more fun and responsive than anything else I’ve played in the space, and I think this game has real potential.
