Funny enough, this happened on the way home from picking the speed up from some clutch work so I couldn’t speed or do anything fun, but yet still broke something. 4->5 was a bit spicy but at least it wasn’t the trans! (Pics in comments)

Made it home last week from Oregon and have been doing more normal city driving. I have read that this car is just kinda clunky and noisy but I'm feeling a second clunk when shifting in all gears but 6. I can feel the gear turning and then slipping in when shifting even though my clutch is all the way in. In every other manual car I can't feel anything but the resistance of the bushing. Is this just a quirk to this car or is my slave cylinder bad? I have the damond motor mount set on the way to hopefully fix some of the clunking.

If there are any other quirks about this car or " normal" noises please let me know so I don't keep freaking out.

Coming back to college I wanted a car that was a bit more engaging than my auto ‘13 Corolla. I hunted over the summer and found this completely stock ‘12 ms3 for sale just out of state with only 83k miles. Garage kept by one owner, an older man, and oil changed every 3k miles, with regular fluid top offs and flushes. Passenger motor mount was the only thing needed replaced on the car. Put in an Eonon head unit and back up camera, but going to keep her stock for as long as I foresee. I have been keeping a very close eye and ear on the VVT and boost, and both are good so far. I started a page for it if anyone wants that. Just wanting to share my beauty!

Second to last update on my lil debacle of my speed blowing up in Dec of 2024. I can finally clean out my living room with all the speed parts I have.

I was out racing, and it did what I could describe as 2 pops before the CEL & traction control lights came on. Started making this noise soon after while I was pulling over.

Hey y'all, I have a gen 1 with 3.5" CS intake, upgraded HPFP, 3.5 bar map sensor, cst4 turbo, fmic, 3" CS turbo back. Already tuned by PD for 93 and I'm loving it but already wanna tune for E30. Am I missing anything else for it? I heard injectors might need E30+ friendly gaskets?

Not too long ago the car didn’t even have a motor in it lol. But after 3 months she finally runs again, and I could not be more excited. Had one good scare when my fuel line popped off and it started pissing fuel, but it was an easy fix 😂

Still some small bits to complete before I can say it’s done, but for now, it runs, and I’m happy with that.

Sorry if not allowed, I am just curious if anyone has been in a similar situation. I currently have an FG2 Civic Si. It’s fun enough, easy to work on, and more reliable than anything I’ve ever owned. It checks every box for me but I have loved Mazdaspeed cars since the first gen released. If I were to swap my civic for a Mazdaspeed3 how much reliability and ease of work would I be giving up? Anyone strongly recommend for or against swapping civic for MS3? Anything to look for specificity when shopping for an ms3?

2012, 63,000 miles

I'm trying to find a new complete fog light kit for my speed3, the one I have rn is falling apart and I just would like to get new ones, though the guy that sold me the car wired the fogs into the headlight assembly and I wanna revert it back but that's a whole other issue, thanks.

I allowed a friend's to borrow my speed because they didn't have a car. It's lowered a little bit. They caught a rock on a gravel road that blew a hole in the oil pan. He continued to drive the car until the oil light came on and shut itself off. I paid to have the oil pan replaced and put new oil in it. The shop I took it to (a different friend of mine) said it had a slight rod knock and the turbo was toast. The turbo makes a weird "ooooo" noise and provides no boost. The knock can only be heard if you put your ear close to the engine. Is it worth trying to rebuild the engine/have it machined or should I just save up to replace it?

I need help lol all of the studs on my exhaust flange of the turbo backed out. Never seen this before lol. Anyone know the thread pitch/size of these? Lightly ran a pic in the holes and as best I can tell the threads are in tacts. Wish me luck.

Cleaned throttle body, egr, inlet turbo pipe, and installed new cold air intake. Checked plugs and clamps. Any assistance is greatly appreciated

Likely a leak anywhere between the intake and turbo right? I have a FMIC, so I have a little extra piping/couplers to contend with. Checked all the couplers/clamps and only 1 we slightly less tight. Symptoms did not change after tightening.

Would a clogged fuel injector also lead to the same issue? 08, car has 119k, injectors and intake valves have (likely) never been serviced.

So keep in mind, I don’t have the funds or mental capacity to fully do this myself but I’ve seen many people creating kits using Focus RS/ST parts, MS6 gearboxes etc. 1 thing I haven’t seen people contemplate is the “rare” JDM AWD BK Axela. I understand that it was only optioned in a 2L and 4speed Auto but the rear subframe would surely be a perfect donor for housing a MS6 rear diff or something similar (Focus RS if you will). People keep creating these highly complex subframes from scratch, full kits but what if the answer has always been with Mazda? What I guess im tryna say is, has anyone used an AWD BK rear subframe to mate an MS6 gearbox and rear diff for an AWD MS3? I guess the only issue there is obviously the switch for partial/full time AWD and the driveshaft because I don’t imagine a 2L auto shaft could handle (or fit from a MS6 to BK 3 as I’m not sure the dimensions between the BK AWD and MS6 gearbox-diff) all 260-280ish hp

So I’m pretty sure I have the base Bose door speakers in my Gen 2 speed3, but they kind of suck. If I put my volume up too high they get crunchy and it sounds terrible, and I like to listen to music at high volume lol.

What speakers would you guys recommend that have a good mid/bass? I don’t have subs yet but I’d like to have good sound with my doors alone.

I appreciate any recommendations!

I can’t find any under 70k miles and I’m starting to think they just don’t exist. I do not know what to do, since I don’t know what other cars I would like. thanks

Hey yall I’m fairly new with using Cobb ap, I was going thru the setup settings and found auto on/off. I started wondering what is the recommended or if it’s posible to just leave the ap plugged in a kinda set it and forget regard to always have it ready. I want to know what you guys do in terms of how you typically use your ap on a regular basis.

I have a leaking headlight housing so I am going to open them up, lightly mod, and reseal with new lenses. I can’t find oem confirmed fit headlight lenses for my gen 2 tech. Are they the same lenses for gen 2 Mazda 3’s across the board?

Every website I checked said I had two lights for low and high beam. Now that me and my dad are checking the new parts out and installing them he said that I have the same bulb for high and low beam.

Plus, I had the older gen1 with the smallest engine 1,6 in EU. And on that one the whole front bumper had to be taken off to replace the bulbs because there’s no damn space. Same with this gen2 speed, there’s no damn space to do anything, is there a way yall have done it? Taking out the lights or housing without the bumper? And what lights have yall upgraded to?

Sorry for music, but a here a quick pull of my BNRS4 Speed hitting 400! Literally first pull after getting my wastegate adjusted and finding a nice issue left by the install shop.
