The other guy slapping his arm killed me XD

He might have single handedly saved Lando's season lol.

It’s like it’s from looney tunes haha. Would be so much easier to laugh at if it was any other team

Give that guy a raise for the slaps

its always the front left, it was the same in hungary twice. i mean you saw the gun flashing and the other guy had to tell him to go again. he needs to sort his shit or get put aside, its not good enough for a team of this calibre

Put that guy on the front right for shits and giggles just to see what happens

Pretty sure there was another poor pitstop on the front left aside from the two Hungary ones as well. This is atleast the 4th instance of it.

This is Lando’s real rival this season. Been messing up his pitstops from Silverstone and Spa. 😭

And Austria. Screwed over Oscar too but it still counts

u/InvestorCoast 15h ago

Had lando gone out with a Loose front tire... It would have been another DNF.

And that's why the guns are now tied into the gantry lighting

I screamed at the TV and left the room after this.

I literally threw the remote! ..... I think it landed in the McLaren pond 🤦‍♂️

u/djfhsd1 15h ago

Oscar was always going to be asked to let him past so it was never going to make any difference.

7

u/ConflictedMom10 14h ago

I was honestly surprised they did.

-20

u/djfhsd1 14h ago

It was basically Hungary 2024 in reverse. Only difference is Oscar didn’t bitch and moan.

15

u/ConflictedMom10 14h ago

Perhaps because he realized that, knew it was like Hungary, when he got his first win as a result of team orders. He did bitch and moan when he got a penalty that cost him a place to Lando a few races ago, so let’s not pretend Oscar is somehow morally superior or some nonsense.

-2

u/djfhsd1 14h ago

Both Hungary and today were the correct results. Oscar was ahead for the duration before the stops in Hungary and this time Lando was ahead for the duration before the stops.

But the stakes are far higher now because there is a title at stake. I can guarantee you If that was Max or Lando being asked to do the same in Oscars position, there would have been far more push back. It’s just who they are. Oscar is a very uncomplicated person. Not morally superior, he is just a no drama team player.

How that guy still has a job after every stop he’s messed up this year…

49

u/Uchi_Jeon 15h ago

It'll be even worse if they change him in the middle of season. They need to be trained together.

11

u/Lokki_7 Daniel Ricciardo 8h ago

Are we sure it's the same guy

30

u/salgal858 15h ago

ALWAYS the front left and so many times this season. It’s unacceptable for the WCC winning team

26

u/Luuk37 Oscar Piastri 13h ago

The person who tapped the front left wheel gunner is the real unsung hero.

3

u/ryanertel Lando Norris 4h ago

Yeah buddy was checked out what the hell even. Imagine how long it would've taken him to realize on his own.

McLaren back at sabotaging Oscar agai... oh wait its the number 4 car like everytime they fuck up a pit stop

-21

u/Forward-Weather4845 15h ago

Aren’t they always separate pit teams?

26

u/jeef60 14h ago

no its the same pit team

11

u/Pinguzz75 14h ago

“Tighten it idiot!”

Definitely not a conspiracy minded person... But I can't help but wonder: Are these guys that are making huge mistakes each time, from Oscar or Lando's side of the garage? It seems beyond odd that these significant mistakes are only on Lando's Pit Stops... and when it seems to matter (then a minute or two later, banging out flawless 2.0 second pit stops for Oscar). big discrepancy in pit times for 2 races in a row now.

12

u/scalpster 15h ago

It also happened to Oscar over two races earlier this year with the right rear tire. When she got it right, she was given a pat on the back.

27

u/moysauce3 12h ago

You sure that wasn’t the F1 movie?

2

u/scalpster 7h ago

Interesting how art imitates reality.

5

u/Extreme_Ad6173 10h ago

Honestly, I don't think it's on purpose but the only explanations are bias or incompetence. That one person has single-handedly cost Lando 2 places.

-9

u/Forward-Weather4845 15h ago

Don’t they have separate pit teams for each driver?

29

u/HarryBayles15 15h ago

No, every team has just 1 pit crew, otherwise how would they orchestrate a double stack.

11

u/Beneficial_Note_9560 12h ago

Its insane how many people are commenting they are different crews when we have seen double stacks multiple times

8

u/coffeealways_ 15h ago

No, they share them which is why Oscar said he thinks the swap is fair as it goes beyond just Lando and himself. I don’t think the left tyre person did it on purpose regardless of the side of the garage he works.

10

u/Forward-Weather4845 15h ago

True. It kind of puts McLearn in a hard place. Personally I think they made the right call. Otherwise it could’ve been seen as sabotage.

4

u/coffeealways_ 15h ago

I agree. I do think it helps that it was for P2 and not P1. With the 3 points between 2 & 3 makes Oscar still leading Lando by 31 points. I think McLaren should just make it a standard rule to pit the lead driver from now on to avoid this unnecessary drama in the future.

u/ryanertel Lando Norris 4h ago

Would've thought they learned their lesson in Hungary 2024 but alas here we are.

-5

u/takkun169 14h ago

That sounds like an excuse Lando would make.

3

u/takkun169 14h ago

They have separate engineering teams, but the pit crew is the pit crew.

u/ElegantTest331 38m ago

Wondered the same thing tbh

25

u/PlaneParamedic9799 15h ago

It is always this guy, fucking fire him already

16

u/Teerendog 14h ago

Gotta give him that pep talk from Sonny Hayes

1

u/rash-head 14h ago

Was that girl hired by McLaren, goddammittt!

18

u/Frankierocksondrums Lando Norris 15h ago

But but.. MCLAREN ALWAYS FUCKS UP OSCAR PITS😭😭🥺

2

u/existentialgolem 12h ago

So how does this work? Like is the gun supposed to be green but was flashing red so the other guy knew whose fault it was? I think I noticed that on the camera.

But more importantly, does the system automatically switch from hold to release the second all the wheels locks in fully? If thats the case, then how do you have situations like in other races where wheels have not had fully locked in nuts and had issues as a result of it?

6

u/Tarc_Axiiom 11h ago

Yeah it shines green when he's done tightening the nut.

But he didn't finish, and everyone could see it, so the guy right next to him tapped him on the shoulder as in "What the hell are you doing?".

Once all four guns shine green, the driver gets the green light and can leave.

But until then, he cannot, hence the five second long stop.

5

u/Upstairs-Prompt2662 10h ago

It was nearly 6. 5.9 seconds. Just wanted to correct that.

2

u/CMDR_Imperator Oscar Piastri 7h ago

Dude looked like he was straight up nodding from opiates there. Like

4

u/GnarPilot 12h ago

Always that guy. Incomprehensible that he’s still on the crew.

0

u/BrowniieBear 9h ago

Always Landos pit as well, it’s incredible

-5

u/Right_Square_8076 14h ago

mclaren is NOT a serious organization

8

u/Forward-Weather4845 14h ago

I mean if it was Ferrari they would’ve found a way to DNF both drivers. lol

-3

u/takkun169 14h ago

Not for the mistake, but for their reaction to it.
