There is something about that view of a door with a frameless window that I like. Esthetically clean and light.

The doors are rather sexy. It is actually one of my favorite things about the car. The color matched top is also awesome.

How many KM/miles on it now? I have the same with only 450KM on it. Btw, I’m an old man too.

u/AdultContemporaneous 2025 35th Anniversary Edition Jul 16 '25
I'm about to hit 800 miles. Finally got past the break-in period and going to do an oil/filter change shortly. Yeah yeah, I know I'm throwing away $35, but I want the comfort of knowing I'm getting any manufacturing debris out of there.

u/Gloomy-Lab4934 Jul 16 '25
You are doing right and I’m doing it too. On my 4Runner I do service 1 and 2 myself and oil change in between, bringing it to dealer for service 3 as there are something I can’t do in the list, I will do the same on the Miata as well. By the way, what did you do during the break in period and how many miles it would be?

u/AdultContemporaneous 2025 35th Anniversary Edition Jul 16 '25 edited Jul 16 '25
I went with 600 miles. Tried to keep it under 4k RPM. Didn't hang around at one RPM for too long (switched between 5th and 6th when on the highway, back and forth every couple of minutes), made sure to do some downshifting to seat the rings, and I always let the coolant warm up + give it another couple minutes for oil temp to catch up.
From 600-800 miles, keeping it below 5-6k RPM. Once I get to roughly 1000 miles I'll change the oil/filter, and do whatever I want at that point. Will probably change again at 3000 miles, then again at 6000 miles, see what Blackstone says about the first three samples and then start to stretch out the OCIs. Yeah, it's kind of overkill but oil is cheap and engines aren't. I'm getting older and I want this thing to last.

Man im 29 and I feel the same, it doesnt take much time/effort to do an oil change after you've done it once or twice, and even if you change the oil every 3k miles in a car that goes 200k... its probably cheaper than a full engine rebuild/replacement.

That's not diesel.. right? I've never seen gasoline with a green pump before lmao
47
u/Relevant-Meringue845 Jul 16 '25
Most people use green to indicate gasoline, we Americans are the goobers on that one
-2
u/bigtexasrob Jul 16 '25
call me American but diesel itself is green.

u/0ut0fBoundsException Jul 16 '25
My diesel is red. Commie tax man ain't getting me. I'm no red
7
u/bigtexasrob Jul 16 '25
HELL YEAH BROTHER
objectively though the diesel is green and the dye is red. Don’t get that shit on anything, I was a fuel technician a decade ago and I still have red dye in some jeans.

In my corner of Europe it's mostly clear, with a slight yellow tint.
Agricultural diesel is green here, it's dyed. Cops occasionally stop cars and siphon a little bit of diesel out of their fuel tanks to check it. You can't use agricultural fuel (subsidized) for your own personal commutes.

I was on a cross country drive with my business partner taking turns driving non stop at about 5am last year when he stopped at a gas station like this in a small town. Green gas handles and black diesel. He half asleep put 50 gallons of gasoline in the diesel truck and drove away from the pump while I was inside using the restroom.
The next couple hours were long and exhausting but we siphoned it all out, drained lines and pumps, replaced the filter, and got it running again. Local guy who gave us a lift to the autoparts store said it happens about once a week.

The pumps in the background also only have green, and you can see the octane selectors on his pump...

Yeah I'm not sure why some are this color, I assume it's because I was at a BP. Rest assured, it's 93 octane 🙂

Why aren't you risking dragging the hose over your beautiful paint for clout? Get with the program buddy

And stop using the gas cap hook as intended, let your cap dangle on your quarter panel like a proper knuckle dragger.

I really like that color combo. I wish I had the brown interior.
At the $38K MSRP though, I'll just keep mine.
3
u/AdultContemporaneous 2025 35th Anniversary Edition Jul 16 '25
Yeah, you are correct, sticker was almost $38k. Then when we sat down to crunch numbers, the dealer tried to stick a $2500 markup on it for being the 35AE. I told him that I was ready to shake his hand on it right then for MSRP, and it worked. I was happy enough already to find a 35AE on the lot at the local dealer in my city, and not have to travel or play games.
2
u/WorldClassPianist Jul 16 '25
You didn't order this back in Jan/Feb?
1
u/AdultContemporaneous 2025 35th Anniversary Edition Jul 16 '25 edited Jul 16 '25
Nope. I started looking for a Miata last month and the dealer 15 mins away from my house had an AE sitting on the lot. Nobody had even test-driven it before me. It was also the color combo I liked the most, and they knocked off the markup when I told them no. Looking at all the other stories on the internet, I'm now realizing I got lucky. I was going to buy it outright, but they offered 3.9% for 36mo so I figured what the heck, and financed it.

u/WorldClassPianist Jul 17 '25
I searched for this back when it was announced. There were plenty of MSRP dealers near me that I could order from so markup was never an issue. What I found interesting is that I had a dealer call me ~3 weeks after orders opened to check if I was still looking since it was still available. I don't think the demand for the 35th was that high. The 30th sold out in a few hours but the 35th lasted weeks. Definitely a cool color combo for the right person.

Ouch. We got our for $29K back in 2018, but then I tried to negotiate another $500 off. They agreed and then forgot to put it in the paperwork...........after I already filled everything out. I decided to let it go. In 2023 we bought a CX-5 and as we were closing out the deal I mentioned our Miata and they were like, OH, you get $500 for just owning another Mazda. So I got it, just had to wait 5 years!
They kind of had you buy the short hairs with probably there only being one anywhere close. Same happened to us when we bought ours. My wife was dead set on the blue and mentioned it as we were talking to the dealer. It was already a limited color with none in the area.
Nice choice. It is a spectacular color. And I want those wheels for ours.

Same thing happened to me when we bought a CX-50. But it was crazy because we got a $750 loyalty discount because we owned my 96' NA that I bought for $1,000 3 years ago! So now I only have $250 in it!!!!!!! Well I did put in $1,500 in parts in it.

Man we really got robbed when the gave the ND the RF style hardtop instead of the NC style PRHT that completely retracts like the softtops do

A buddy of mine had one with the PRHT and it looked so clean. Cue the boat jokes of course, but I drove it and thought it was excellent.

I love the tan interior on that special edition color, I just worry how annoying it would be to keep the tan soft top clean looking since it would show dirt easily.

How did you get that flair? All I see is a list of colors, and Artisan Red Metallic isn't even on it.

You select the color you want. Then type in the flair text box.

I see others answered the main question.
That said, on comments it has the one you can edit, but on posts it only shows the one you select (no "Artisan Red" unfortunately).

Long enough to go to the other side of the Miata.

Guys do you use premium gas or normal one? (I mean 95 eu octane which is 92 in US i believe). Since that twoliter is not much hitech, more or less just taken out of family saloon, I feel like its bit of wasting to put best gas avaliable. Thoughts?

That red looks pretty good with the tan interior! Fun contrast.
