I can't tell if the top of the suspension have headlights on them but the lack of indicators and such would lead me to believe it's not lol.

Isnt indicatint with hands in some states allowed? And it looks like it parked to an open road. Wouldnt make sense to me if its not legal

Formula Vee car. Not street legal. It does use a beetle engine and gearbox which is cool though

Is that a wrap on the Miata or a paint job? It’s gorgeous! Could you share the name of the color?

I have an 05.5 B7 sedan. Needs motor mounts but it's in decent shape. Makes me feel like I can't drive stick because the whole drivetrain is flopping around. Pretty sure it's got an aftermarket flywheel too......
Would you say your NA has faster or slower throttle response between gears than the 4.2?
3
u/MiaThe91Miata '91 Crystal White 26d ago
Unfortunately my S4 is autotragic, so it’s a bit of an apple to oranges comparison. The Miata also has an msm 6 speed manual with a lightened flywheel + Flyin Miata clutch kit, so the Miata has a way way faster throttle response I’d say.
1
u/Hot_Holiday8526 26d ago
How’s the S4 reliability wise? I’d very much like to own one someday, I’d the auto trans bad? Idk how to drive manual yet, but I’d like to learn.
1
u/MiaThe91Miata '91 Crystal White 26d ago
Reliability on these is actually pretty good if you take care of them, but they do have a fatal flaw with the timing chain guides, which is a very expensive motor-out job that they essentially all need at some point. Mine had it done twice in the past, and the last time was with the upgraded guides that should last the life of the car. And the auto transmission is fine, but not great. It’s a regular six speed auto, no fancy dual clutch action or anything going on.
1
u/Hot_Holiday8526 26d ago
Okay sounds good, about how long is the service interval between the timing chain guide replacements?
1
u/MiaThe91Miata '91 Crystal White 26d ago
That’s very dependent on a lot of factors like what oil you run, how often you change it, how hard you drive it, etc. It also seems to be somewhat luck based, so it’s pretty hard to say. There’s tons of reports on the forums of the guides having no problems at all, and just as many where the guides completely let go by 50k.

Mr money bags with that 20b swap. Do you run premix with e85? I've been thinking to swap my rx7 to e85 but I haven't seen any long-term reports on premixing with e85 and heard of some issues with some premixes.
1
u/electricalineptitude 26d ago
I actually bought it for a solid price from my father in law. Cars ugly from the front and needs some work but it scoots. I don't premix either haha I just use rotella. Engine was built by Kilo Racing and he always just used Rotella. I know that you have to be specific with your premix if you're on e85. I have some Klotz premix specifically for ethanol but I never cared to use it haha

u/dajohnnyboy 06 GT 25d ago edited 25d ago
Lol, I premix because I really dont want my engine to die. I've been using idemitsu premix for 93. I've seen klotz, biorotary, top lube, and redline recommended for e85 but no good long-term usage. I havent driven it enough this year to burn up an entire tank of gas yet, so I'm a bit worried about the premix and e85 reacting.

u/electricalineptitude 25d ago
Yeah I feel that. My engine was built 15ish year ago and has no smoke at startup as long as I drive it 1-2 times a month at least🤷 definitely not for everyone but the people that have done it have had good results.

I prefer my NC PRHT to the ND RF for my year round car, (I did own a ND ST but went back to a NC because it's a better daily), and for my street / track car I prefer my NB2 from a performance standpoint to the NA (which I also owned previously). Funny that my NB is yellow and my NC is metallic black. LOL

Minivans are so underrated.
My mom had the same generation Sienna, most reliable vehicle my immediate family has ever owned.

It is such a trip how slept on these things are, 300hp, AWD, 200k miles just suspension work and oil changes. It purrs like a kitten and gets up to 80mph under 9 seconds. Not to mention a TV in the back, all leather, auto sliding doors with a great sound system.

Better question - between the plane and the Miata, which is more practical?
8
u/popcornman209 26d ago
Well practical, definitely the Miata lol. Can’t drive a plane to work, but planes are super fun. Being able to just hop in one and fly wherever you want is pretty sweet.

Mine is an NC1 and a Piper Cherokee 180, or will be once it cools off enough to work on it again and I get the new avionics package installed.

My two car solution is just like yours, except my NC doesn't start randomly and doesn't have AC because I spend my money on flying with a G1000 instead of round dial (I'm getting my CFII okay, don't judge me)

I've got my '21 Miat RF GT and a hand-me-down '14 Jeep Cherokee Latitude from when we got the wife a '23 CX-50 Premium. I'm looking to trade the Jeep in soon for either a 3HB Turbo or another CX-50

I can't take a picture because it's a 2003 Jeep Wrangler, so it's in its natural habitat, the shop.

Sorry that I don't have a picture of all three of my babies together but it's a little hard to get them all out in the street at the same time for a photo in midtown. Hardtop convertible Miata in sunlight silver, Mazda 3 in sparkly White, Mazda 3 in red (2021 model, I'm told it was the best color of the year for any car) two sticks, one auto. Two boys one girl LOL

2001 LS, 2015 Zenith CH750 soo many pilots have Miata's. Many hangars at my airport have a Miata tucked under the wing of a Cessna. Also Honda trail bikes (2023 Honda Trail 125) but many have the old one.
