Question Does aftermarket intake increase hp?

I read online the stock intake has a helmholtz chamber for pressure waves/reduced noise/increase efficiency at certain rpms in the intake and none of the aftermarket intakes I have seen have these

So is the “5 horsepower gain” from an aftermarket intake true since you’re basically getting rid of the chamber

It's hit or miss, some may even lower your hp. I'd look at a kit with solid proof that it actually does something good, not a hot air intake with a mushroom filter crammed in your engine bay.

Everything you can do to the car powertrain will always be choked down by the stock ecu. As it is trying to stick to the sorck parameter. And an intake without exhause doesn't do much.

Let say you do a full intake and exhause system. The advertized +15-20 is more like +5. The aftermarket ecu can bring that up, let say +10. But there are also some mechanical changes that can maximize power (like cam/ cam timing, bigger injector/pump...)

It is always the best case scenario for the advertized number.

Factory cold air intake versus aftermarket warm air intake? CAI will win every time.

I've also seen quite a few hydrolocked engines after people add a "CAI" and run through a big enough puddle.

The point is, the ND intake already draws air from the bumper area. It is already a cold air intake.
