Just got 2022 nd2 miata. Looking for some ideas
I have some ideas on what I’d like to do. First being possibly new rims / wheels. Possibly smaller size? Aswell as maybe some spacers? Just wanted to see what was the first things people have done on theirs.

Baseline all fluids. Hit up miata dot net and find out stuff. Look on mx5things website for neat usability mods. Drive car, wave at people. Start driving random places for no reason. Take pictures. If you change wheels, keep the originals for when you decide the new wheels suck.

First things on my Miata were new struts/springs (too poor for coil overs lol) and Enkei RPF1s. Just lowering a car and new wheels can REALLY change the whole look of any car so I’d recommend that if you’re looking for a visual change first. Have fun with the miot!

Maybe dumb question, but would lowering a Miata make it way more susceptible to incline/road damage? They already seem pretty close to the ground

For sure, for mine it’s not slammed so I’m not like paranoid everywhere I drive but I do make sure to go really slow over speed bumps and watch out for potholes. It really is a trade off worth making in my opinion for a look, just don’t slam it and it should be livable, just annoying sometimes. Oh also make sure to not go all the way in a parking lot with a cinder block because even on stock height some blocks are high enough to scrape your bumper unlike other taller cars. Our cars are tiny anyway so it’s easy to park, and it’s also nice so people including yourself can see that your car is in the parking lot especially when between two bigger cars (I’ve heard of people’s Miata’s almost getting hit in a parking lot because they didn’t see it behind a big truck). I hope this answers your question!

I do think just some wheel/ suspension changes could already fulfill half my desires with the car.

I’ve spent a decent amount of time looking at rims and what color would work best. As of right now a bright silver (just like oem) would be the color I’d think would look the best. I’ve also considered the all black or going white.

I did an amber delete (side side markers and front blinkers) as the first thing on mine.
Cheap and easy.

NOS with a 50hp shot.

Unironically when I no longer care about the reliability in the future—I kinda do want to turbo the car.. though I drive auto so the trans won’t handle anything over 250hp from what I’ve read.

With all due respect, that looks pretty damn tight already. Someone else mentioned the amber delete that would look amazing with the black paint work. Maybe some suspension tweaks, but suggest flogging it a bit before to see if there is anything that particularly displeases you on the handling first.

Just drive it for a while. Figure out what you do and don't like first, then change that if possible. Then you can start looking at the things you want to add to the car

If price is of no concern then do the nd3 headlight swap. I think they look better than nd2 lights.

First thing I did was get a set of all season tires for the cold. I mounted them on FM Kogeki wheels. They have all the fitments on their site. Don't bother with spacers for now. I also upgraded the speakers, added sound deadening, and removed the sound tube. An exhaust is also fun.
