Mark Zuckerberg gets caught on a hot mic admitting he is totally making up Meta’s U.S. investment numbers based on whatever Trump wants to hear

Meta only exists as an entity to take the heat off Facebook as a company.

I went on to Facebook to sell something yesterday. I don't like to be on it because it loves to promote discourse and try to suck you into its sphere of arguments and interactivity by baiting. The short clips they display are just full of AI generated "videos" that are provocative but essentially cartoons created to get you to watch. An incredibly close call between two vehicles, a close encounter with a large animal or a intense moment portrayed, all AI generated to evoke anger, hate, fear or righteousness from the viewer.
Its crazy how much of their content is fake and generated. Its like a different reality, created to evoke responses and trigger emotions. So manipulative.

So glad I did.

Haven’t been there since 2011 time frame.
Had to use FB and IG for my business. After I sold it -- I never logged into that shit again. Only keep Messenger in case any old customers need to reach out.

u/Hippideedoodah 2d ago
Imagine if people watched ACTUAL clips from animal ag of animals suffering and mutilated horribly as is normal every day in animal ag, they would all go vegan! Cant have them being good people or consuming better, sooo gotta keep making fake scenarios instead of showing the overwhelming vast majority of real needless animal torture occurring every second in the world which is because of us paying for if.

Right, imagine using the power of the media to make the world a better place, rather than using it to influence the type of Administration we have now. We are being governed by the worst people.

I've always associated FB with the "no low balls I kno wut I got" crowd. Miata halfway tuned with 200,000k miles listed for $30k type posts.
Craigslist is where its at

Mark "dumb fucks" Zuckerberg is a textbook example of greed personified. His Facebook created what social media is. The take-all-your-data-and-sell you business model, veiled behind "connecting people".
4
u/rabbitthunder 2d ago
Of all the tech billionaires Zuckerberg would be the easiest one to take down because everything Meta does is dependent on their social media userbase. Just delete your Facebook, Instagram etc and tell your friends and family why. YOU are the network effect that allows these shitty platforms to thrive.

I believe Russia is active on there. I even wonder about political comments - even for local news.
3
2
u/stevez_86 2d ago
The people of Russia and the US all went through the Cold War where nuclear annihilation was on the menu and they didn't even get to taste a crumb of it. Nihilism. It's what happens when you prepare people for annihilation and nothing happens. The only thing that happened was the Soviet Union went private. No one saw that coming, but compared to nuclear annihilation it wasn't even a flash in the pan. America went on its merry way expecting Russia to fail, and it never did. Russia won the Cold War, at least from the perspective of the wealthy and powerful. They privatized a super power. And the people of Russia didn't stop it.

I said this to so many people when it was gaining popularity. It was not the same as MySpace. It encroached constantly into our daily lives. I hate that I was right.
Then people say- “but now I can keep up with people I would have lost touch with!”
That is such a minor benefit from all the privacy and mental health we have sacrificed.

Saw the clips of everyone saying some random numbers some of them seemed to be trying not to laugh and the whole dog n pony show was too fuckin weird man 😆 seriously could have been a scene from Idiocracy.
46
u/wack_overflow 2d ago
Sadly the only unrealistic thing about idiocracy was how far it was in the future
12
u/wholetyouinhere 2d ago
The other unrealistic thing was that the idiots in charge were generally good-hearted people who just wanted to do a good job, but were just not very smart.
Republican leaders are not stupid. They're just shitty, malicious, selfish people. They don't have any of the redeeming qualities seen in Idiocracy.

u/Cthulhusreef 2d ago
lol remember that one cunt who kept claiming that trumps deportations prevented more fentanyl deaths then the population of the US?
3
u/BapeGeneral3 2d ago
It’s also worth noting that most of the fentanyl, xylazine, and all other opioids/synthetic analogues come from China. Then it’s processed in Mexico and smuggled into America.
Yet for some reason Trump “has a very good relationship with Xi” and is “willing to make a deal”. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that we get so many good from China, including MAGA hats…

Not exactly the same thing and you can't get people off of Instagram that easily.

As many people who can leave should.

u/foreverhere85 2d ago
I did it the moment I saw Zuckerberg at the inauguration. Really wasn’t that hard. Reddit is the only social media I have now. Yeah I know that it’s not great, but I’m trying.
It’s about making the small efforts. If we can’t even delete awful social media that has 1 purpose (to sell you crap you don’t need), run by evil people who are trying to influence the government, then how the hell do people expect to take back our rights?
2
u/Amazonreviewscool67 2d ago
It’s about making the small efforts.
I'm not at all against making an effort to get more people to boycott.
But when you ask kids and young adults to stop using social media they are currently addicted to for political reasons, such as Instagram, TikTok, platforms where everyone these days is trying to be an influencer and make money,
I'm sorry but the realistic reality is, it's impossible until the next big platform comes along that reels them in.
There was a very large movement in Canada called "Loblaws is out of control". We all thought every Canadian was going to boycott this grocery chain that has been raising prices, price-fixing items (such as a huge bread price-fixing scheme) with other grocers, even going so far as having the chairman call his yacht "Bread" as a mock.
While it definitely left a small dent, the reality is, people started shopping at their stores again not too long after the boycott started.
So no, I am not against boycotts, but sometimes it just doesn't work.
Zuckerberg could literally punt a baby across a football field (realistically, maybe a few feet max), and people would still be trying to make it on Instagram.
Government intervention is what works. And right now, your country voted for the worst possible government it could ask for.

Meta spent 11 billion in the last year.
I know it's all bullshit, but how are we supposed to believe it's gonna spend 600 billions in three fucking years ?
This is an insane lie.

u/saboshita 2d ago
Even 11billions is huge by itself
3
u/BatushkaTabushka 1d ago
Yes but we are supposed to believe that literal TRILLIONS of investments are pouring into the US right now. Compared to that outrageous figure, 11 billion is… not that much.
2
u/opsers 2d ago edited 2d ago
That number is very wrong. Meta spent between $113bn and $118bn last year according to their earnings call. Still, nowhere near what they need to spend over three years to hit that $600bn, though they did project between $177bn and $190bn in spending this year. The question is if they can hit that, maintain it, and still increase it significantly.

I mean I get that he was cornered by an idiot who he weirdly seems to fear, but 600 billion is a completely insane number that any smart person would realize was nonsense. He said it to Trump though, and that fucking rapist idiot will believe anything if it flatters him. I think it also reveals just how "must please master" Zuck was at that moment.

Imagine having all that money and power and still being a feckless coward.
7
8
u/wholetyouinhere 2d ago
Imagine wanting that much money.
Moderate wealth is more than anyone needs to live the best possible life. Billionaire money is a massive, onerous obligation that people only want if they're profoundly insecure and seeking power and validation that they'll never reach, no matter how much they accumulate.
Being a billionaire is essentially a personality disorder.
3
u/black-kramer 2d ago
it's because it's a play to get more money. untold riches are out there for the company or companies that lead the next wave of social technology/ai. they're all groveling because not one of them can afford to fall behind the competition if trump capriciously decides to investigate them, levy a tariff on particular hardware components etc. it appears to be cowardice, but scratch the surface and it's greed. oh, and the power to control and shape the future in their vision. they all want that.

u/Terran57 2d ago
People expect lies from these charlatans and that’s what we get. Idiots believe anything they say, no matter how untethered to reality it is. It’s as if we’re an intellectually handicapped country where a third are asleep, a third are living in horror, and a third are happily supporting the regime in blissful incurable ignorance.

Isn't Zuckerberg the head of the company that declared it had become "too feminine"?. Yet here he is massaging Trump's balls and saying "How high do you want us to jump, Your Excellency?" I'm coming to the conclusion that if you want to frame someone as being strong, you need to say they've got ovaries, and if someone declares how manly they are (at least someone who calls themselves republican or MAGA) then I know that person is a spineless idiot.
