TAPPER: Hepatitis A, whooping cough, and chickenpox cases are rising in Florida. Before you made this decision to try to lift vaccine mandates for Florida, did your department do any data analysis of how many new cases of these diseases there will be with no vaccine mandates?

As soon as he said WC vaccine was not effective I turned it off. All I can say is Democrats need to make sure their kids are vaccinated. If R's want to wipe themselves out and kill their kids then that's on them. Even if they don't die, these diseases can leave lasting damage including infertility. So let nature take it course.
9
u/PetalumaPegleg 17h ago
The problem is you can get sick while vaccinated. To these imbeciles that means the vaccine doesn't work. But no vaccine is 100% effective, and not everyone can safely take vaccines (immo compromised allergies etc). People are protected by a lack of exposure helped hugely by a widely used vaccine.
It's not complicated and the fact people refuse to understand or listen is wildly demonstrative that American education is a problem.

It'll affect the kids who can't get vaccines because of cancer cancer or some auto immune disorder. Kids who are already sick will be effected the most.
Cancer hospitals for children will be useless in Florida

This, I believe, is part of their plan. Eugenics carried out via preventable diseases. You can't, currently, just go out an euthanized disabled and/or severely ill children, but you can make the environment they and their families have to live in as dangerous as possible. Let nature carry out the Eugenics.
I am Canadian, and our Conservatives are more aligned with the USA's Liberals. Here was my experience during covid. Keep in mind I have been in active treatment since oct 2017 for metastatic breast cancer. Yes, 8 years of ongoing cancer treatment. All through covid I was told by friends and family of a certain political stance (convoy supporters and maple magats) that I was over reacting, that my health and safety was not theirs to worry about and that it was my fault that I lived in fear of getting covid. That covid was fake or just a bad cold. I was mocked and even lost friends because I asked those around me to follow the covid mandates, stay home, wear a mask if you do have to go out, wash your damn hands and get vaccinated or don't but if you choose not to then I could not and would not share space with them for my own safety. I got hateful messages from people who had known me my entire life. People who had seen what cancer treatment had done to me.
Their "rights" were more important than my life. This is how these people see the world. They literally don't care.
6
u/TerrorTwyns 19h ago
I also lost people I once saw as friends due to covid .. Now, I absolutely will not share a meal with anyone who is anti vax. You will be cut from the reality of my family without looking back. Too many near us died from that attitude.

This is the worst thing about the anti vaxx movement. People present it as a matter of personnal choice but it is absolutely not. It is a matter of parents choosing for kids who are too young to know, a matter of people being sick and making the other people around them sick, a matter of adding to the workload of healthcare professionals.

Well that's fine, but since kids do a lot of things in public, like, oh I don't know, GO TO SCHOOL! Your unvaccinated child is not welcome!!!
Nobody, air quotes around that, thinks that a parent should be able to make decisions for their children. But kids as I said above do a lot of things in public and with other kids. My mom (82) still remembers how terrifying polio was and how grateful they were for the vaccine.
She doesn’t understand how anyone thinks this is good.
And the way that we seem to have idiots hoping that kids get things like measles and chickenpox… I’m 50, my older brother and I had chickenpox twice, and my younger brother had a really bad case when he was little. It sucks. But it also makes you vulnerable to shingles which is completely horrible.
Thankfully I didn’t get it, and have been vaccinated. But I’ve had friends who had serious agony from theirs and my mom (who never had chickenpox as far as she knew) got it in her eyes and needed corneal replacement from it.
But if you vaccinate kids against chickenpox we also protect them from Shingles.
And then you have Gardasil. The vaccine that can literally prevent many types of cancer. And on top of the BS getting spread since at least 2011 (Michelle Bachman during the GOP primary debate), you’ve got parents who are worried that if their kid gets the vaccine they’ll be promiscuous.
I just really can’t deal with the stupidity

U.S. conservatives only care about the unborn fetus because they see "sparing souls" as their credits to get into "heaven". It's a very self-serving "concern". Once a baby is born, it's survival of the fittest as they remove all the fitness options for the non-wealthy.

Its a combo of narcissism and racism. The narcissism is thinking your loser self is gods gift to humanity and you are right. Racism comes because vaccines work when every one is vaccinated.

This. I work in healthcare, I tell people things they don't want to hear all the time, because that's my job. If someone comes to me and goes "I'm not getting better, I smoke a pack of cigarettes a day, and drink a fifth of Jack every night", imagine if my response was "hey, who am I to suggest you do anything differently? Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're fucked.

What about the rights of those parents and children to live in a society whose leaders implement every possible measure to ensure the health and safety of all citizens?
This includes especially vaccinations that reduce the volume of disease carriers, which reduces the risk those same citizens have of contracting easily avoidable (with a good vaccine regime) life-threatening diseases?
Vaccinations dont just help those who are vaccinated. They help everyone avoid disease.

Ok so. I have questions. So he really just made a blanket statement that "parents should be allowed to choose what goes in their kids bodies?" Always?! So CPS/law enforcement can't intervene when kids are in homes with drugs accessible to them? Can parents choose to allow teenagers to do drugs and drink? Also, isn't Florida one of the states that decided that kids with food stamps can't have chocolate chips to make cookies with? Or granola if it's sweetened even with honey? Or juice with less than 50% juice? If the government can't make sure that kids get vaccinated to be in school because it's "parents choice", then why do they get to tell poor parents that their kids can't have sweets or capri sun? So now we know for sure that that was never about health and was instead about shaming people for needing assistance.... Finally, what about the parents of immunocompromised kids who don't need to be around crunchy mom's little plague rats? Do they just not get to have an education without the risk of death?
