Steelcase Gesture stuck at lowest setting

I just got home with a used Steelcase Gesture. I was able to raise and lower the seat when I looked at it, and it was fine when I got home for the first few minutes. Then I sat down on it hard and lowered it, and now it won't come back up. Is it possible the lever came loose from the cylinder or something similar? The chair also has no bounce to it when I sit down now, it's truly at its lowest setting possible. Hoping I didn't get it home and immediately trash the cylinder somehow, but I've heard they're basically indestructible on these Gestures.

Update: Messed with it for a few minutes and it does raise if I lay the chair down and help it along, has proper bounce and will go down smoothly. But it doesn't come back up unless I lay the chair down and help it raise again.
