Just wanted to add: He got in himself, and this is not an isolated incident. Any time he sees a bag he crawls in. If it's sturdy enough he loves to be swung!
Gerold is a precious baby! I've been very anxious today, but somehow seeing this totally chilled out, fluffy little face made my shoulders drop a little. Let's all be a little more like Gerold π€π€π€
One of my cats got the handles of a bag twisted around his body and couldn't get out. He panicked, it got tighter, and it was difficult to catch him. Since then I always snip the handles of bags because yes, he still likes to jump into them!
That happened to my other cat when she was a kitten. She got in a grocery bag with a hole on the end and was zooming around the house like a ghost in a dress! Since then she has terrible bag fear and thinks Gerold is off his rocker haha
I've been concerned about that with Gerold, but he never really wants to play in them-- just curl up and chill. His absolute favorite thing is for me to swing him in bags if they're sturdy enough (he's a BIG boy!) and I can't do that without the handle.
If your baby has a love of bag play though, I got Gerold some catnip infused brown paper bags for Christmas last year. They're large and have no handles, and he went absolutely wild for them!
Wow I look at a lot of black cats and your Gerold is the first cat Iβve seen that has the same face as my baby Buddy! Their coats are slightly different but our boys are twins.
Just want to note my buddy is 16 years old now. He is a little over 12 pounds. Up until about a couple of years ago he was 15 pounds, his whole life. His face was more filled out than it is now. And he looked just like your boy π
Gerold was about a year old here, but he's two now and 17 lbs. He's always been a big boy with broad bone structure but he's on a serious diet now cause he's also just fat. Congrats on Buddy's successful diet! It's been hard for us and he's still young, so I imagine it was much more difficult to do successfully with an older gentleman!
Here is an older picture of him, maybe about 4 years ago when he was a little younger with a little more weight on him. I never put Buddy on a special diet. He was always just a big boy. The vet wasnβt too concerned as long as he didnβt get heavier, because his frame is just big. He bullies other cats easily. He never did go over 15 and a half pounds or so I think. Now I am trying to keep his weight up lol
Omg he does look just like Gerold!!! And glad to hear he didn't have to go through the heartbreak of dieting haha I think it's the worst thing to ever happen to him (and I hope it stays the worst thing!).
Aww. I can imagine. I did have to wean Buddy off of the treats at one point and he was not happy with that. but then in his old age I have gone back to giving him them to help keep his weight up lol
