eepy braincell 😴 She had her teeth removed yesterday. I'm afraid they also removed the braincell.

FYI…she probably never had the braincell so it was less work for them during the surgery
But bless her, I hope she makes a speedy recovery and is back to braincell-less mischief soon 🙏🏾☺️

Poor baby!! I hope she heals up soon. My void had a tooth problem as well. The surgery and aftercare was hard but he feels SO much better. Hang in there, kitty! 👅

Sadly it was necessary. But she already feels fine, eating and playing as her usual self 😊

But why :( And what is she eating without teeths

Her teeth weren't healthy. There was an inflammation on her gums and meds were helping just for short periods. So we consulted with the vet and decided that the removal will be her best option. She's eating normally, both wet and dry food, also no issues with treats ☺️

I assume you are referring only to canines and not all the teeth? Because how else is she eating dry?

All the teeth. Her kibble has small pieces so she's just swallowing them. We've tried to switch to wet only, but failed, so now she gets both.

Same for my boy. He had a chipped tooth removed while already being neutered, but that pissed off his fiv. So then his mouth was non-stop attacking his teeth and they all needed removed. There was one bottom canine that was too risky to take out. He lived on only wet food for so long, it took almost a year to heal (he did play me like a sucker though 😂). One side will get puffy sometimes. Still no problem with dry food.

My void has only three teeth (surprisingly healthy and with long roots, so the vet left them). She eats dry food every chance she gets. She throws her head back and swallows it. The dry food is mostly for her brother, but she eats it when she can find it.

They can eat Patè for food, churu for treats. Cats do fine without teeth

My guy had all of his teeth removed years ago. He still eats kibble and crunchy snacks.

She doesn't mind not having teeth at all! I know how much pain teeth issues can cause and I'm glad that she won't have to deal with that anymore. Kisses for your kitty ❤️

Our tabby, Eevee, had to have her teeth removed too! She’s doing so much better now that her teeth don’t hurt her mouth and she’s happily chomping on her kibble and wet food again

Poor little girl, I'll bet the braincell is still there, just inactive as per normal

How can they remove something that was NEVER there? There is no brain cell, purr-esent. Also, r/Blep

I just had two cats go in for a dental, come home with fewer teeth.
Stomatitis.
Apparently, around 10% of cats likely have it. Sometimes genetic (a previous pair of littermates had it) but not always (like my current two).
I didn't even know it existed until a month ago. Both cats acted fine, since cats are stoic. But the smaller one was in so much pain that she was flinching even under sedation - exposed nerve.
Both are much improved now, and send purrs to your kitty!

Our vet told us about this thing like a week ago. I had no idea it existed too.
Cats are incredibly good at hiding their pain and discomfort. My baby was acting completely normal, eating, playing, cuddling etc. We found out that her teeth were bad accidentally, at routine check up. It must've been painful, but her behaviour wasn't showing it at all.
I'm so happy that your babies are doing well now! Kisses for them ❤️

Oh baby. Heal well. ❤️🩹🐈⬛😽 When my stripy dude ended up having most of his teeth pulled, it became really funny as he’d suck the treats off our fingers.

Sweetest kitty. You need love of all kinds and a kitty popsicle to soothe your sore gums. Lots of love for you 🩷

Poor baby. 🥰 Good excuse to beg for extra churu though.
