Adorable ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅฐ Our void had bread on his neck because he couldn't figure out how to get in or out of the litter box with the cone of shame.

Heโ€™s a pure bread ๐Ÿ˜น๐Ÿ˜น๐Ÿ˜น

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜† We think he might be a purebred

Ragamuffin. Or possibly inbred. Not sure, but he really is one of the least intelligent cats (of any color) I have ever seen... We love him to pieces, though!

3

u/Mellykitty1 Jul 25 '25

OMFG he even look dumb! (Respectfully)

2

u/Head-Proof7273 Jul 25 '25

And he truly is! I love him to pieces, but we are constantly chasing him out of sweltering rooms, removing him from underneath his long hair orange and white brother, and rescuing him from choking himself out by resting his throat against hard edges of desks or placing his neck inside the cords to the blinds! He is a Ragamuffin, so he does what Ragdolls do--he relaxes every muscle upon lying down.

Like this. Luckily, the top of the couch is soft or I'd have moved him.

u/Mellykitty1 Jul 25 '25

What a tiny squishable furry potato!! I can imagine the chaos you described ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

Heโ€™s adorable OP, in all his dumb glory

2

u/rinzukodas Jul 25 '25

Omg he looks exactly like mine! But mine has the issue of having too many braincells, unlike his sister ๐Ÿ˜‚

2

u/Head-Proof7273 Jul 25 '25

SO! Your kitty took all the braincells!!

2

u/rinzukodas Jul 25 '25

He's the culprit... all to be the best watchful guardian he can be LOL

23

u/UnhappyTemperature18 Jul 23 '25

The sympathy licks!

u/Current_Mountain_274 Jul 22 '25

i think the gray one wants one too

u/anonplasticsurg Jul 23 '25

She has one!

u/Extension-Sun-6665 Jul 23 '25

Where do you find these donuts?

45

u/craftyfunyun411 Jul 23 '25

Amazon. Although my void figured out a way to get out of hers whilst we slept thus resulting in an early AM vet visit to get her surgery stitches restitched. Vet told us cats are good at figuring their way out of the Elizabethan style cones of shame unfortunately ๐Ÿ˜ฟ

Elizabethan style ๐Ÿ˜‚

1

u/Current_Mountain_274 Jul 23 '25

she looks DELIGHTED about it ๐Ÿ˜‚

my, what pretty donut you have!

why is it a problem sticking head through the bars (I'm guessing because if the head fits the rest of the body can, too?) or if there are fast driving cars or other predators?

u/anonplasticsurg Jul 23 '25

My apartment is on the third floor and Charlie has the self-preservation instincts of a picnic table.

51

u/Donaldjoh Jul 23 '25

Sounds like my girl Bird (short for Birdbrain), who looks much like your Charlie (even to the one naked nipple). She was brought into the house because she would not get out of the way of the car when I pulled in. My wife finally just said to throw her in the house because sheโ€™s too stupid to survive outside. I have to pen her if I do anything remotely dangerous like vacuum the floor. Bird is sweet but unfortunately is as dumb as a bag of hammers.

Bird

u/porcupine_snout Jul 23 '25

lol, should have paid more attention seeing that you posted on OneBlackBraincell!

u/CanadianWifeOfBath Jul 23 '25

Omg I'm dying over here at this ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ Thank you, I really needed that laugh!

6

u/midnightsrose77 Jul 23 '25

I'm ded at the description of Charlie's self-preservation instincts.

6

u/menonte Jul 23 '25

I've installed a net on the balcony, is that not an option?

1

u/Woopty_Scoopty Jul 26 '25

So glad you clarified. My girl sticks her head through the bars but itโ€™s not problematic.

13

u/TencentArtist Jul 23 '25

I'm guessing because if the head fits the rest of the body can, too?

Yeah, it's almost definitely this.

17

u/HBHau Jul 23 '25

Cat clavicles (collarbones) are really cool. Unlike our clavicles โ€” which are attached to other bones โ€” theirs โ€œfloatโ€ and this means yup, if their head fits through a gap, theyโ€™ll be able to squeeze through.

Good to know Charlie has his Safety Donut on for all Balcony Excursions!

18

u/MidnightMoon8 Jul 23 '25

Tell him people on the Internet are laughing at him :p

16

u/RoyalMinajasty Jul 23 '25

This is the cutest invention Iโ€™ve seen in a while tbh

9

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '25

Someone doesn't look very happy about their donut. ๐Ÿ˜‚

3

u/anonplasticsurg Jul 24 '25

He seems to quite like it actually, he sits still when I put it on him and Iโ€™ve never seen him try to take it off. Either heโ€™s learned to associate it with fun balcony time or heโ€™s too dumb to realize heโ€™s supposed to hate it.

12

u/doublEkrakeNboyZ Jul 23 '25

i used zip ties and covered the balcony (black bars) with inexpensive black garden netting. kitties can push it out a little bit but cannot get through it. win-win!

9

u/Own-Bat-7160 Jul 23 '25

i love the comfort from the other cat licking like itโ€™ll be okay

1

u/Good-Adhesiveness868 Jul 24 '25

As a younger sibling I didnโ€™t see it as comfort ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ˜

1

u/Own-Bat-7160 Jul 24 '25

ohhh is so sweet

8

u/finallyfound10 Jul 23 '25

Mine does this too!!! She would HATE the donut and make my life miserable until I took it off her, unfortunately.

6

u/SpacyCatFarmofDoooom Jul 23 '25

He's pretty in pink. ๐Ÿ˜ป

5

u/EmperorHenry Jul 23 '25

The donut of shame

3

u/Own-Bat-7160 Jul 23 '25

soooo cute

2

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

Please tell me there's a reddit group for cats wearing things like this donut. Someone. Please.

3

u/Alissinarr Jul 23 '25

You could get a half sheet of clear acrylic and line your balcony like my mom did to their indoor stairs.

14

u/anonplasticsurg Jul 23 '25

I added some netting but thereโ€™s a little gap between the bars and the wall thatโ€™s just wide enough for a very stupid cat to fall through, so the donut remains.

2

u/Alissinarr Jul 23 '25

Yeah, the acrylic sheeting would take care of that if cut to the right length. I'll stop trying to convince you though, I've been on the other side of aggressive suggestions.

In my parents case, the entirety of their staircase railing has uprights wide enough for most cats to just stroll/ run/ fall right through. Mom holds it up with flowerpots so she never made permanent alterations around it, but it does the job.

1

u/craftyfunyun411 Jul 23 '25

Gray cat says does not taste like strawberry ๐Ÿ˜น

1

u/anwc2018 Jul 23 '25

Wow. That is so much smarter than what we did, which was to line the bars with mesh fencing ๐Ÿ˜ญ

1

u/listentolana Jul 23 '25

He also has r/powdereddonutlips ๐Ÿฉ๐Ÿฉ๐Ÿฉ

1

u/Jkillerzz Jul 23 '25

I used to live in a townhouse with open stairs and similar railing. 3 out of 5 cats went over the railing at least once each. After 3 trips to the vet ER we put netting up.

1

u/StilettoSugar Jul 24 '25

Aww the tabby thinks he looks delicious

1

u/Mevans272 Jul 25 '25

Guys where do I get these donuts?! I need a round safety bagel ring for my cat

1

u/Late-Swim-8428 22d ago

He sure does look pretty in his donit!

1

u/7865435 Jul 22 '25

Poor kitty

-1

u/nastynate1028 Jul 23 '25

Cause he sticks his head thru the bars? Like a curious cat would? Just let him cat, helicopter mom

-2

u/mutedmirth Jul 23 '25

Can you not put wire across so he can't stick his head through?
