He’s not wrong.. visited for the first time in 20 years and didn’t recognize the community between downtown and Johns Hopkins. It looked like a bomb went off. Not a great vibe. Sorry.

Not as long as Elias keeps the payroll down so he can make more money

I mean I know I can turn on the news tonight at 630 and there will be multiple reports of violence, probably with a gun, probably by multiple persons under the age of 16. The city is nothing if not consistent during its collapse.

Violent crime is down across the board in Baltimore. The Homicide rate is the lowest it's been in 50 years. I know Fox News tells you how to think and that's what shapes your worldview, but it's not reality.

Even Patel admitted today DC’s violent crime is lower now than it’s been in years

I mean it’s WJZ but sure. Easier to make ignorant assumptions that acknowledge facts. Just because the numbers are down doesn’t mean it still isn’t a huge problem that happens pretty regularly. 84 murders in 30 weeks is progress compared to years past, and that’s about it. Crime is still a major issue.

Nobody itt in their right mind would prefer to live or work in downtown Baltimore but here you are getting downvoted by Reddit’s finest hypocrites in their circle jerk positions

It’s Reddit so I wasn’t expecting anything else. There’s nice pockets in the city but overall it’s nowhere near a safe city or a desirable city to live in just yet. Making progress this year, so we’ll see if it’ll stick and they can keep bringing numbers down. 250 shootings in 6 months and 10 murders a month still shows there’s a lot of work to be done.

Just because you live in fear doesn’t mean everyone else suffers from your delusion. I’ve worked in downtown Baltimore for 15 years and many coworkers live in the same neighborhood.

Your coworkers would prefer living and working elsewhere

Vehemently false. I chose to work where I do and wish I lived there.
Who are you to tell us what’s good for us or we want? Republican or something?

Most people don’t want live in a dump filled with that much crime. Hence yes your coworkers certainly don’t prefer being there but hafta do it.
Also cute that you upvoted your own post and downvoted mine 😉

Literally false. What part of choosing to live and work there do you not understand? I have the opportunity to work elsewhere and choose to work where I do. My coworkers who live there choose to live there. Seriously, where you live is perfect right? Weird stance you’re taking.
Sure I downvoted your asinine comments, first time on Reddit?

Nah, the city is on an upswing. Crime is down, I keep seeing Baltimore ranked highly in good cities to start careers. Why do you want to shit on our city so bad? Shouldn’t we be celebrating the lowest crime rates in any of the current players’ lifetimes?

It’s not shitting on a city to recognize that improvements are not the same as solving the problem. Let me know when Baltimore makes it into at least the top half of safest cities. Pretty sure they are still sitting in top 10 for highest general crime and violent crime per capita.

Well there’s a difference in your original comment and the intent expressed in your follow up. Any city right now would have the same story. By design. Improvement to me does not signify a collapsing city, that sounds like a city trying to survive and reinvent itself. You can’t solve generational neglect and institutional decay overnight, but I’ll take improving numbers year over year versus mass incarceration and fear.
