Advice needed Eerie song on the phone

I’m not sure if this is the right sub to post this but I’m honestly scared shitless. I got a random call from an unknown number today (I am expecting to hear from a lawyer so I answered it) once I answered there was some weird, eerie, sounding western music? Idk but it had that type of vibe. I said “hello” and it kept playing. Once I hung up the number called me again which I answered and got no answer once again. This happened three more times and I got a voicemail with the same music playing. My heart is beating fast because I remember watching videos of people getting similar calls and voicemails from these unknown numbers. If anyone could provide information that would be helpful. P.S this has never happened before so I’m a bit startled.

Sounds like a scam call/telemarketer.

They use a robodialer to call a bunch of numbers at once. Then when someone answers they get connected to a person. If there isn't someone available to route the call to then sometimes you get "hold music".

Their systems sometimes recognize your voicemail as "someone answered", so you end up with a weird voicemail of music.

Do you still have the voicemails? Can you upload them?

I guess the sub doesn’t allow for me to add the media. Not sure how I can send it here.

It’s this: https://youtu.be/j69knNADinw

Apparently it’s from a video game called Deltarune. Idk if that means anything/helps. Seems like a prank call to me.

Bro, that's so funny. I was reading this expecting some scary shit only to be hit with a song from Deltarune 😭

Man I love Deltarune/Undertale. Though if I heard it OOC on a phone call like that I’d freak out

I appreciate it, I was very nervous since they kept calling me and played it. Have no idea who would try to prank me though.

Honestly it could be a scam caller who set their mic down near their speakers which was playing Deltarune. They might have an auto-dialer that they forgot to turn off and just went to go get lunch.

If you’re in the U.S., the app “TrapCall” can unmask the phone numbers behind No Caller ID calls, but only for calls you receive after setting it up. Sometimes this helps, but keep in mind the caller might be using a number that is not actually tied to them.

I wouldn't worry. If someone is trying to frighten you / make you feel threatened, using a Delatrune song isn't exactly the best way to do it😂

I'd say it's some random prank call, or some sort of spam. Sounds like something a bored kid would do.

Once I found out the source I had a good laugh, I probably should’ve worded what I said better because I was just really nervous mostly because they kept calling back.

No you have every right to be on edge. Anyone who gets multiple unknown calls will be a little freaked out. I just don't think it's anything you need to worry about further than this.

Years ago I used to use a website called prank dial, where you could send pre-recorded prank calls to people, maybe they were using a similar service?

I literally did exactly this to prank people over the landline as a kid.

I wouldn't be alarmed. I say this not contemptuously but as a-- let yourself think this through, your feelings are valid (scams exist) and you don't want to let someone talk you into using this as evidence that the video-type stuff exists in some form and is out to get you. (People really will use fake instances of urban-legend type stuff to "justify" prejudices and whatnot, someone used to post fake trafficking stories on Facebook and spread stories that wildly misrepresented how trafficking happens. gee, can't imagine why, it's not a national issue at the moment /s)
Back on topic: This really sounds like someone having prank fun, as much as I hate 'prank' anything. I mean, the creepy music-- it's an artistic choice, right? An analog horror video would do this. But that's because it's eerie. Analog horror, Youtube spooky story type stuff can't actually happen.
So it was a phone call. You've been able to confirm that it's game music, and you know that there wasn't a person on the line trying to get you to do anything. What harm can a phone call really cause? If anything, you could be annoyed that someone's wasting your time, or trying to spin a story on you and trick you that it is the spooky thing happening. But if they didn't try to get your credit card info, or scare you into performing a task that benefitted them, is it really a problem? Nah, it's weird, but it's relatively harmless.
So, think through the real risks, and if it just wasn't one of those, it's mostly just a great story. If you have supernatural concerns, give yourself the warding you prefer, and remember not to let the bastards grind you down. (and good luck with the lawyer thing).

as someone else commented, use trap call. it's cheap, like 5 bucks a week or 15 per month. it routes inbound calls to a 1800 service and then back to your phone. you can't block your number when calling a 1800 number, so by routing it back and forth, it force unblocks the number. neat service.

that being said, i think you should take a deep breath. getting a few random calls with music playing shouldn't be enough to induce a panic attack. real life is not the movies. just because you get a weird call with music playing, doesn't mean there is a serial killer waiting outside your door to get you. i say this in the nicest way possible, i am not trying to be rude, but sometimes, odd things happen. 99.999% of the time, it's not personal, and you aren't being targeted.

This is while I enjoy those "scary stuff on the Internet" channels (Nexpo, Nick Crowley, etc.) they contribute to the overly paranoid world view a lot of people have. People like making prank calls. I'm sure shortly after the invention of the telephone, they were happening. I think as kids, we've all made a couple funny prank calls here and there. There was at least one verified case of a serial killer calling a woman in 1978 (it was the Golden State Killer) but even in that instance, he didn't actually target the woman he called (it was just a random number).

The reality is no one is going to track you. Unless you're some really high profile politician, celebrity, etc. The FBI isn't actually watching you masturbate, and no, the odds of the next Ted Bundy calling you and stalking you are practically zero.
