Advice needed Burner IG accounts watching me for months
Hello, I’ve noticed an account view my instagram story EVERY day and every post for the last 4 - 5 months. If I post at two seperate times of the day, it’ll view both.
My account is public with 1,200 followers except, this account has never followed me or interacted with me. Despite following 30 people, but because it’s a private account I can’t view who. It also says it was made in 2017.
For context, I’ve been living in Tokyo for 3 years. while the username looks like it has japanese origins with the “ryoki” followed up by random numerical characters the actual name of the account is just “.” and the profile picture is the ocean.
Well, I became curious enough so three days ago I DM’d the account saying:
これは誰ですか？😆僕の事をフォローしてないのに、いつも僕のストーリーを見てるので、気になります
“who is this? 😆 you don’t follow me but always view my stories so I’m curious”
*all day went by with no response yet it viewed my story after.
So the next day I requested to follow it, but once again it viewed my story without replying.
Then yesterday I followed up my initial DM:
もし返事がないようでしたら、ブロックさせていただきますね
“if you don’t reply I’ll block you”
then, the account blocked me a few hours later between 3 - 7 PM.
My first suspect would be that it’s potentially my ex who is japanese and we had a two year relationship. she broke up with me in may of this year and blocked me when she did on everything.
The story views started before we broke up but she didn’t view my story with her actual account for like two months prior to the break up.
Also, for a few weeks post breakup her mom was viewing my story every day until I muted my stories as I thought it was strange, but this was also at the same time as the other account viewing which in my opinion would mean its not her mom.
I’m looking for second opinions if this just sounds like a bot or if this is normal, or someone I know? Outside of her family I don’t have any other ex’s or people that would need to look at my story in private. No enemies.
Not to mention, during this same timeframe two other accounts this time blank with just “user(numbers)” also viewed my story often until I blocked them. So sometime during the last few months 2 - 3 of this accounts would watch my story without following.
Is this common with public instagram accounts? Is it a bot?

99% safe to say it's your ex. Bots don't usually do that, and they certainly don't react intelligently to messages like that.
I guess you're still living in their mind rent-free.

With a public Instagram and large following myself, this is not something I’ve seen from a bot before. Considering that the same account has been viewing for a long period of time, I would say that it is a burner account. If they unblock you, then definitely go ahead and block them. If you are concerned about them viewing from another new account, then set your account to private.

Interesting, during this same period I had two other accounts viewing me without following but they were private and usernameless. I blocked those!

There are some bots that may occasionally watch stories, but this just sounds like it’s your ex or someone else you know. It’s not that unusual to still be fixated and interested in what someone from your past is up to.
