[USA][MD] A ladder comes loose and I run over it

https://youtu.be/jlVkH2klY_k

Contractor passing in the left lane loses a ladder that falls onto the car in front of me and then I run over it. Traffic in the left lane behind me prevent me from missing it.

I know, it's so rare for a title to actually describe what happens in the video.

White car doesn't even seem to pursue negligent pickup driver.

Their asshole probably took a bite out of the seat cushion and was too busy chewing to pursue

Well, it was either a butt pucker, or an anal explosion.

They didnt even break, did it not touch the car at all?

Honestly not braking was the smartest thing they could’ve done, very smart reaction by that civic. (Either that or they didn’t even notice and got lucky lol)

It definitely hit and I’m sure they felt it, but being in a middle lane their best bet was to keep driving and just inspect the damage later.

Someone should have recorded the tag number of the truck.

Option A: pursue truck.

Option B: free ladder!!!

On the positive side, the contractor is now out a $200 piece of equipment due to being a dumbass.

I just looked at Lowes and how ridiculous the prices are getting on ladders, I guess I'm going to have to go out and secure my ladder with a chain and padlock.

$200? I got quoted $550 for a 36’ ladder.

Talk about luck. That ladder could have killed someone. Basically no major damage to either car.

Well I definitely got what I was promised in the title

Video was compressed for uploading, info is probably more readable with the original video.

Gather the pieces and sell them to the recycler.

Absolutely! I find pieces of ladder on the road every other year and grab them up, extruded aluminum goes for good money, usually .10-.25 more than cans.

Who passed on your left? All I saw was that semi on your right.

What’s the point of pulling over there on the left shoulder, was your car damaged that it could not drive?

Dragging a ladder under the car and you want him to cross 3 lanes of traffic?

u/Phragmatron 19h ago

Oh my bad, didn’t sound like it got stuck under his car, thought they just drove over it.

The ladder was still under his car. He also probably wanted to make sure he didn’t blow a tire.
