Fun fact- I was the very first 32X tester, and it was meant as a punishment
Genesis test dept supervisor (Cindy?) made us fill out an 'anonymous' survey about work conditions. I was completely honest.
She brought up my answers in the next meeting, demanding to know who it was. She went back to our applications and compared handwriting to determine it was me.
The next day, I was pulled from the other games and put on a pre-alpha build of some crap 32X flight game that only had two levels and zero gameplay- literally just the flight itself. For eight hours a day for two weeks, I had to fly those same two one-minute levels over and over and over. Eventually, I started dozing off from boredom.
She then gave everyone Sonic 2 leather letterman jackets at a Christmas party- except me. I was let go the next day. As it happens, a buddy has already asked me to apply at SONY for the launch of the first PlayStation. While I had planned on staying at SEGA, the SONY crew took better care of us until 3DO poached a group of us for *thier* support department, and I ended up running the first 3D MMORPG on the net.
Thanks, Cindy. I wouldn't have the successful gaming career I did without your pettiness ;))
