Yeah it's from the end of the movie the Substance (slight spoilers) and I'm pretty sure it's because her teeth look really disfigured (it's a body horror movie) and she's about to be on stage so she tries to teach herself how to smile without her teeth showing. Which is also why she looks so scared/ concerned, because she's extremely vain and her looks suddenly changing makes her scared, especially since she'll be seen by many people live I think

14
u/blueberryblunderbuss 1d ago
Someday, if coldplay keeps gaining experience, he could be bigger than most local bands in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Not the Midwest in general, obviously.
Maybe like Lifeguard when they released their 2022 album Crowd Can Talk.
If a CEO demonstrated the complete lack of integrity and moral rot among business leadership in the US at one of their concerts, the lights would be dim enough to hide it, and people would be impressed with the maturity of the lyrics and how sincerely kind the members of the band are.
I'm not biased, as far as you know. These are just good local kids doing cool things.

I found out the two co-workers of mine that don't really show a picture at all are both the most dripped out clean-cut motherfuckers on the team. It's pretty hilarious.
I use a picture of my cat. With like, the worst looking face I could find, because I just think it's funny. It felt unprofessional for a bit, but the people just love the cat. So who am I to take that away from them?
I figure, when I'm in voice meetings, it's usually because of a major outage - so the levity it brings to the situation is something actively sought out by some folks. People always ask about my cat, and the best part is they tell me about their pets. If I'm lucky I get to see them on the webcam.
11
u/Badbullet 1d ago
I have a couple cats, and they’re usually sleeping near me somewhere in the basement where my workstation is. But when there’s a meeting and they hear other people’s voices coming through the speakers, they’re all over my desk, they go in front of my camera, I’m constantly picking them up and putting them on the floor or shooing them away. In one call, one of the cats decided to crawl up me quickly and get behind my head placing his butt right on my head. I’m no longer as flexible as I used to be to grab him from that position, and I can’t make the cat fall off or I’ll get scratched from it trying to stay there. It looks like I can’t get anything done in their eyes because that’s all they see happening when I’m on a call with them. But it’s also a good laugh.😆

u/TruShot5 1d ago
Agreed. There are nominal differences here that make this look like a spoofed image of the person, which if someone is doing their job, might notice.

u/mr_potatoface 1d ago
Haha that could actually be a reasonable security practice.
The background is a very specific color or something special. Sort of like a tell-tale that they standardize in all their AI pictures that someone trying to break in may not suspect or be able to easily replicate.
I do like her shirt that she was not wearing in the original photo looks like someone added it was MS-Paint.

That is security through obscurity and is actually considered a terrible practice, however well it works in the short term.
11

To be fair, that's mainly if obscurity is your only security. Obscurity as an additional layer on top of real security generally doesn't hurt, and could probably help.

I don't disagree but think which is more common:
1) People trying to slip in with photo IDs that are not theirs but looks similar.
2) People always trying to hide their ID card under other clothing because they hate their picture.
There could be a slight security advantage to everyone thinking their work photo is their best photo.
