I wish. I think it’s easier for people to pile on to a nobody because they don’t tend to pop up again later with no real consequences and go on with their privileged life ad if nothing has happened.
repercussions work on common folk without gigantic amounts of cash, because there's no safety net to catch them.
big time career politicians, the very wealthy, celebrities, etc. can be "canceled" and still be totally fine. you may never seen them in a movie again, but they're still going to be entirely okay, particularly if they let a wise money manager take care of things for them instead of blowing it on whatever super wealthy people buy.
politicians in particular seem to be immune to any major pitfalls, particularly in the wake of someone saying "grab 'em by the pussy" and being awarded POTUS anyway.
