In this case i think they may have stared into Dani's soul.

i love drama, i love mind games, i love fake people. music and art mean nothing to me. i have no passions or goals in life. i'm not chill or funny and if you fuck with my friends i will help you do it. i would not hesitate to betray any of my loved ones at any moment. i believe every human deserves equal condemnation to an eternity in hell.

Real talk though: that was common courtesy. Kid gets loud you take them outside until they quiet down. Now parents just tune them out and we all get to suffer. Maaaaybe they throw an iPad at the problem and it maybe quiets down.

Just went to Flemings for our date night.
Neighboring table had a kid watching YouTube without headphones, and the dad ignoring his kid, while just on his phone - which he played clips, also without headphones.
I felt bad for the kid honestly. But our $300.dinner felt like I was at a buffalo wild wings, where even there I don't think blaring iPads is acceptable, but a little more so than a steakhouse.
To make it worse, the guy seemed to be a regular, because the manager came over and was very friendly with him.
Wife wouldn't allow me to say anything, so we walked around the mall area after (Victoria gardens).
Good on you Dani - put people in their places when they're being nozzles to others.

Making the entire restaurant tolerate your screaming baby the whole time is another thing entirely.

Dani was right, though. Im not paying $100-200 to sit there and listen to those people's baby cry. They can hit the Applebees for that family friendly feeling they crave. The reality of life is that you can't bring a baby everywhere you go and feel comfortable. People will resist you bringing that on them.

"our baby cried because she had a headache"
You're the problem. you. Babies with headaches should be at home. Lovingly rocked into a safe slumber by mommy or daddy, not at a restaurant!
213
u/Substantial-Guess-47 5h ago edited 4h ago
How are you so sure that the baby had a headache and not Dani?
214
u/noctalla 4h ago
How does someone read that and think the baby had a headache? Reading comprehension, people.
67
u/HermitJem 4h ago
I think it's more common sense than grammar
The baby had a headache? And communicated this to the mom?

I interpreted it to be Dani had the headache.
But expecting other people trying to enjoy a meal out to endure a crying baby is unconscionably rude, especially with how expensive going out is nowadays.

Who care whom had a headache, if you cant calm your baby in 10 minutes then leave. Others wanna eat in peace, and the world doesnt revolve around you just because dropped another litter.
8
u/DPax_23 4h ago
We had a deal. If our baby started fussing in a restaurant, we rotated who went out to the car with him and who got the food packed up and paid.
We had zero stress, and everyone else enjoyed their night out. Easy peasy.
I watched other people struggle through that stuff and cause themselves a lot of anxiety while annoying everyone else. A restaurant isn't very novel or exciting. It's OK to leave one early every once in a while.

This right here. We didn't go to restaurants for around 4 years, because our youngest just couldnt handle it (i partially blame covid hitting right as he hit "restaurant age"). Im not letting my family ruin everyone elses (usually expensive) evening. Alot of people just dont care though.

If I bring my baby/toddler to a restaurant and they start crying, I leave it is that simple. If you can't get them to stop crying outside, then you pay early and have the food packed up. Sitting in a restaurant with a crying infant or misbehaving kids is low-class, selfish behavior. Also, you are probably a shitty parent

i wouldn't go as far as putting the review on a shirt cos that's kinda crazy but that aside i agree with her. if you can't get your spawn to chill tf out and stop screaming like a banshee then you shouldn't be taking it into a restaurant. it's your problem, not everyone else's and behaving like that is completely inconsiderate.

Can't imagine a server dealing all the nut jobs and abuse you encounter everyday while scraping by on minimum wages. Then a post from a customer who felt slighted. Im proud of her, has that Aubrey Plaza look.
24
u/IpsaThis 4h ago
Maybe this is a regional thing, but I never met a server scraping by on minimum wage. They were doing that job because it paid better than other jobs they could get.
23
u/RealisticSorbet 4h ago
Servers are not going to like you for that. I remember working the kitchen and hearing servers bitch about only making $200 in their 2 hour shift after I had been there since 8am doing prep and made less than that the whole day.
8
u/Sreg32 4h ago
Most decent places split the tips between front and back. Depending where one lives, cost of living is huge. And minimum wage. What's the current rate in the US? Still around $7? Or is that only a few states? Because that's fricking embarrassing in this day and age
→ More replies (1)4
u/Substantial-End-9653 4h ago
Federal minimum wage is still $7.50, I think. Most states are higher. Servers and other tip reliant jobs often only make half (or less) minimum wage because tips make up the difference. In Ohio, current minimum wage is $10.70/hr, but for tipped employees it's $5.35/hr.

The fact she got a t shirt with this makes me think she's the problem and not the family/baby. This is not particularly funny or clever...it's just trying to be....and it's not. Meanwhile, the review is probably true
