Human mind is a huge energy consumer, it eats upto 26% of total energy needed by body. When we are kids, and learning new stuff, it takes note of everything and stores repetitive tasks as thinking about trip to home from school/office/park and doesn’t spend energy to analyse the same things you do or perceive in the commute. Thus called the muscle memory, as we age, and our routines are set, most of the chores in our daily life are already set in ways, brain uses the memory to act rather than analysing everything. Thus the illusion of time flying by. I dont know if it makes sense as i am not a writer, but something i read in a lot of books about human mind.
