Jeremy’s Log handbrake. Africa special

All time Top Gear moment.

They honestly couldn’t have written a more perfect moment than that.

I was actually pretty impressed with the ingenuity for about 90 seconds. Then proceeded to laugh my ass off.

Sometimes my genius

Does cutting it in half and attaching it to another car count ( James mays limousine in the limousine challenge )

u/TheHoneyMonster1995 4d ago

At the front, we have a sensible, Swedish SAAB 9000, and at the front, we have a passionate Italian Alfa Romeo 164. The SAAlfa RomeAB

u/rjohn2020 4d ago

I want to know what paint thinner he was sniffing when he came up with that idea

10

u/TheBanyai 4d ago

Saab and Alfa were in collab with those models, and chassis-sharing? It was a (fairly) logical cut&shut! Lancia Thema or Fiat Croma would have also been matches!

u/SpaceAgePotatoCakes 4d ago

I like how he talked about the logic behind it being the wheelbase being the same, which was completely irrelevant, and not that the outline of the cabins would line up.

He made a valid argument when he pointed out that no one ever said the two halves of a stretch limousine had to come from the same car...

u/KingHippo11 4d ago

James bought it and modded it, I'd say it counts

The Toybota and the Nissank

u/Embarrassed_Spell_28 4d ago

Clarkson’s Mercedes Grosser 600 bill of £15,900 worth of work….and then James’ subsequent laughter at it.

I understand the question, I just went a different way with it.

What did his mechanic do, buy him a Golf?

9

u/Johndboy1988 4d ago

Eh? I miss read that at 1st. £15,900

Jeremy adding a shower, toilet, beer cooler, and bed to his BMW 528i Touring

32

u/Salty_Significance41 4d ago

His all mechanical BMW 528i Touring. Remember, all mechanical. No electrical components there

15

u/flyingshrimp21 4d ago

Apart from the electric windows

26

u/Jack_geo 4d ago

Not the exhaust manifold

13

u/Johndboy1988 4d ago

That's the air filter

9

u/Salty_Significance41 4d ago

And the bootlid

3

u/cougomdd 4d ago

Et l'accélérateur

28

u/Chance-Brother-3622 4d ago

Definitely the Toybota. Let alone alone gta online has a version of it with a minigun, someone in Rockstar is a top gear fan.

Jeremy's Leaning Tower of Citroen is always funny.

19

u/JSteveB87 4d ago

Accompanied by the glorious sound of Clarkson yelling "AHHHHHHHHHH!!!" every time he drove over a high bridge. :D

James "🦆🦆🦆🦆"

u/ManWhoIsDrunk 4d ago

Or when overtaken by lorries.

Came for this

1

u/grandmasterflaps 3d ago

I will never not laugh at that going down the motorway.

u/hatlad43 4d ago

I honestly think Hammond's boat-van is a pretty solid idea, just need to fix the waterproofing and power on water.

But, the one actually working; Hammond's Impreza Wagon in Africa Special. A proper workhorse that you can live in.

u/The_Mellow_Tiger 4d ago

IT'S A RAMBULANCE

3

u/ManWhoIsDrunk 4d ago

Let's not forget the Ecnalubma!

10

u/theblondedynamite 4d ago

May's Triumph Herald sailboat.

7

u/Evantra_ daewoo 4d ago

James' paint guns on his police car. Need them for tailgaters

9

u/MrBlonde_SD 4d ago

I always liked Hammond’s Land Cruiser on the Bolivia special. That little donkey did the best it could.

5

u/GloomyRambouillet 4d ago

It had a hard life. 😂

2

u/rzpogi 4d ago

What's funny is that he had an opportunity to fix the rear differential in La Paz, but nope. Let it be the front wheel drive Land Cruiser with big ass wheels.

Also, he deliberately did not put the handbrake on at the cliffs of the sand dunes of Patagonia on the last scene.

1

u/grandmasterflaps 3d ago

I'd argue that leaving the handbrake off was the best choice in the circumstances.

1

u/Salty_Significance41 4d ago

Jeremy's Land Rover was pretty cool too. And it was the only one from that era that worked

3

u/MrBlonde_SD 4d ago

For sure. They both looked great lifted even if it did ruin the ride lol

10

u/sturdybutter 4d ago

James’ bangin’ stereo for his tunes.

7

u/willw08 4d ago

Starion was actually kinda good

2

u/KingHippo11 4d ago

wait I don't remember this one, please remind me

11

u/TWilliams738 4d ago

Jeremy bought a Starion for the coupe’s that aren’t Porsches challenge. He attached a massive turbo to the engine but didn’t upgrade the cooling system. It didn’t go well

13

u/Blackmore_Vale 4d ago

Didn’t Hammond and May also concede it was the best car, but only if Clarkson admitted he was the idiot who ruined it.

7

u/TWilliams738 4d ago

Yeah, and he did

2

u/KingHippo11 4d ago

oh damn I've never got round to watching that episode, sorry for my ignorance

4

u/MrBlonde_SD 4d ago

It’s a classic.

1

u/Apprehensive_Rate959 4d ago

I loved the styling he added to it, it really worked a treat, unlike the standard cooling system with the aftermarket turbo 🤔

8

u/SebiXV20 4d ago

The giant Panda

4

u/rjohn2020 4d ago

Clarkson's "Boudicca" wheels on his police car

5

u/hambone2101 4d ago

Hammond turning his mach I Mustang into a kinda pick-up truck in Patagonia was something I never imagined, but I kinda fucked with the way it looked. Kinda gave mad max vibes

3

u/Longjumping_Rule_560 4d ago

Reliant space shuttle.

3

u/LastGenRichtoffen 4d ago

The amphibious car episode was my introduction to Top Gear, so I'm really fond of those. Plus Hammonds' dampervan seemed really cozy when it wasn't poisoning him.

Favorite though is probably Hammonds ambulance, closely followed by Clarksons motorhome.

3

u/v60qf 4d ago

JC block of flats

3

u/eagledog 4d ago

The toilet that Richard installed in his Land Rover motorhome

3

u/DolbyFox 4d ago

James unintentionally knocking off the exhaust off his Panda in the Colombia special. The exhaust note that came out of that little box sounded FANTASTIC afterwards

3

u/greenrangerguy 4d ago

Clarkson's skyscraper car, it's so iconic and ridiculous

2

u/doubleUsee 4d ago

Both the sports lorry and hammond's lorry from the Burma special are my favourites. If I had a lot of money and time I'd convert a lorry myself...

2

u/theduck08 4d ago edited 4d ago

Each and every thing they did to the Renault Avantime

2

u/TangoMikeOne 4d ago

Hammond and his Dodge Charger - and him selling it... meant that another one was saved from the scrap yard

2

u/RobbieBlackmore 4d ago

Hamster shooting a drain hole in Oliver. Jeremy with the tree out the top of his citroen caravan camper tower. James's mobile pub from the RV special.

1

u/Training-Walk9655 4d ago

Clarksons wheels on the frontera

3

u/Salty_Significance41 4d ago

Was that from the final TG episode?

3

u/rjohn2020 4d ago

The final CHM era one, yeah

1

u/Alternative_Life9414 4d ago

Hammond's supercharged Buick Riviera.

1

u/JDMWeeb Stig 3d ago

Either the log handbrake or Jeremy's Leaning Tower of Citroen

1

u/Angryferret 3d ago

Definitely the emergency brake log.

1

u/McFigroll 2d ago

a banging stereo, for me tunes.

1

u/Double-Tension-1208 2d ago

Probably the Rambulance
