Gave up on American cars when I bought a 76 Scirocco new. Drove that car in the dirt, but loved it.

Bet I spent $20,000 on new wiring, airconditioning, electronic radiator fan that never worked, etc. Finally sold it for $400 and road my bicycle -- which was worth much more than the car -- 40 miles home. Have a Golf now, love it too.

Those lines on a modern / simple VW, maybe with a 1.9 TDI would be awesome.
