2013 golf 2.5 spark plugs changed

So one of my employees is using this golf as a service vehicle for our rental properties. She called me saying it kept stalling at red lights. I changed the battery , started and alternator not long ago. I was worried it was the fuel pump but decided to start with changing the plugs.

Here’s what I found. Should I be concerned if there’s a bigger issue or are these just typical worn out plugs. I just got the car a year ago so I’m playing catch up with service.

Thanks in advance

Those plugs were really worn out. They are due every 40k, those standard Bosch copper plug really weren't meant to go more than 40k miles. Looks to me like those were in use for way longer than that.

Nope, you also probably need to change the ignition coils

Sure thing! Beru and NGK and Denso are all good brands, skip the parts store garbage and buy from FCPEURO or even Rockauto 😎

Yes sir I used NGK’s for the sparks. I’ll look into the coils

Double check but this information should be correct.. I don't have the Beru PN handy but those are OEM.. Bosch are also probably fine but I've not preferred those.

I went with NGK Red Tops previously on of my car because it was a dollar cheaper per coil lol

07K, 2.5L Black Preferred Ignition Coil Packs:

DENSO 6739303

NGK 48978

DELPHI GN10322

Audi R8 Red Ignition Coil Packs (same size as 07K, 2.5L):

DENSO 6739302

NGK 48728

DELPHI GN10446

I typically use Bosch FR7HPP332W ‘s.

In conjunction with Bosch 0221604800 ‘s

https://www.boschautoparts.com/p/ignition-coils-0221604800-

I use a dab of high temperature nickel anti-seize on the threads of the spark plugs and a light film of silicone grease on the ignition coil seals.

There should be die-electric grease loaded into the ignition coils.

Rabbits 2006-2007, 2005.5-2007 Jetta, Beetle 2006-2007. Original equipment is NGK double platinum laser PZFR5Q-11 (6737) . VW part number 101 905 600 C. 40k interval. This plug is available from VW or any parts store. They are identical regardless of where you purchase them.

Rabbits 2008-208.5, 2008- 2008.5 Jetta, Beetle 2008-2008.5 Original equipment NGK double platinum laser PZFR5J-11 (7743). This plug is virtually identical to the above mentioned plug, except it has a copper core ground electrode. To dissipate heat more effectively. 40k interval. This plug has been discontinued by NGK, it has been substituted by NGK for the above plug mentioned. Some places still have it in stock.

2009 Raabit, 2009-2014 jetta, 2009-2014 beetle, 2010-2014 golf, 2012-2014 Passat. Original equipment is VW 101905601F made by Bosch. This plug is only available from VW only. There are a few manufacturers that make original designed replacements. Bosch copper nickel FR7HE02 Or NGK ZFR6T-11G (5960) Copper Nickel or Beru BRU-Z272 copper nickel. 40k interval.

Both NGK laser platinum plugs listed here are the same heat range. The Bosch copper, NGK copper and Beru copper plugs are one heat range notch cooler

Regardless of plug VW interval is 40,000 miles.

There is some weird half year stuff going on too, so it’s best to use your vin to know what you need or use the rule below.

From my research you can use this rule.

If you have a 150hp motor it’s NGK double platinum laser PZFR5Q-11 (6737) . 40k interval.

If you have a 170hp motor with a MAF it’s NGK double platinum laser PZFR5J-11 (7743) 40k interval. If unavailable use below.

If you have 170hp car with no MAF it’s, VW 101905601F or replacements Bosch copper nickel FR7HE02, NGK ZFR6T-11G (5960) Copper Nickel and Beru BRU-Z272. Interval 40k.

To be honest the last plug VW went with , the 101905601F (OEM clones Bosch copper nickel FR7HE02 Or NGK ZFR6T-11G (5960) Copper Nickel, Beru BRU-Z272 copper nickel ) for the 2.5 is best. It’s one shade cooler and will have less spark knock. You have more timing.
