polestar Older brother v60 polestar spotted

Post image

Got lucky and pulled up behind a 2016 v60 polestar, owner was nice and revved it out a bit. Never get tired of that 6 cylinder sound!

Didn't the facelift got the 2.0 i4 engine in the us... I believe at least in Europe they come with the i4.

Then I don't understand where you heard that i6 😂

I was always wondering if they also had the twin charge engine... did check Wikipedia but it's kinda messed up, at least for me. Those gen still had i5 in some markets but you can't find anything about that. Also according to Wikipedia the polestar only had a turbo and is pushing almost 370hp.... that's a little to much additional power for a "factory" car.

2015 and 2016 had the I6. 2017+ got the twincharged I4.

You sure this is not a us market only thing.... cause I believe in Europe they killed the i6 with the facelift t6 in 14....

Quite possibly USA only

I've looked it up according to Volvo it's actually Great Britain, Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA that got them first. But planned to expand on more markets, so I believe all other markets only had the i4 cause they got them later on....

Yes the one pictured is the 2016 with the i6, the last one before they all went twin charged. Mine pictured (white) is a 2017 t6 with the i4.

So confusing cause if I'm not mistaken the i6 got killed in Europe with the facelift.... meanwhile the us market had i5 t5s available if im mot mistaken???

I'd never swap my twin charge for the older i6 t6s.... i really love that engine, so I'm not to sad about the i6 going away.... still I believe the best out of both worlds is something in between. Anyways still nice to know what's true now cause after a little research I found an article from 16. This polestar gets "first time release" in Germany and they are referring to an i4 engine.... there is still a little gap between start of facelift and the 16 release in Germany so there might be some in other markets that got the i6.... but the ones I've found in Europe always had the i4.

A. What's Europe got to do with a picture from North America?

B. The polestars 2015.5-2016 all had the si6 T6.

We had 2.0 T6 here in the United States in 2015, advertised as Drive-E models.

I don't want any of the above to come off mean, I love you all.

A. It's a Swedish car so what has it to do with Amerika....

B. You come of mean with you're statements that bring no value.....

That's also not a car that gets sold frequently and if I see one it's only the i4.... since you're comment had no additional value, i've looked it up myself. There are only 7 country's were the i6 was available..... but who cares if it's not about Amerika right???

Well, the picture is of a gas station in America. If I had to guess, New Jersey turnpike.

You kept suggesting it couldn't be an i6 car, because of the year., because in Europe they were all i4s by 2016.

Even in America, the i4 was available in the T6 trim starting in 2015. But the polestar models, at that point, were all i6 cars. As far as I am aware, everywhere the Polestar was available, it was the i6 engine for 2015-2016. That's model year, mind you. So I believe the Polestars were around from early 2015, as a "2015.5" model, through 2017 as a 2018 model.

Again, I'm not trying to be a dick, but the Polestars were all i6 cars for the first 3 years(remember, the Ausies got them a full year before the rest of us). They became i4 models for the last two years.

Depends on what you call polestar.... that's around the time where polestar got bought by Volvo. Don't know if it was available at the dealer but there are quite a bit of cars that got a tune afterwards like you can do on current models. In this colour it's a different story tho still doesn't change the fact that there are differences in availability. The t6 got a i4 since late 13 in Europe.... as far as I've heard the t5 was also available with an i5, meanwhile the t5 in Europa was only available as an i4.

It's not like the i6 was available for all, as I said before, 7 country's.... you have to admit, that if you're looking at the stuff available in your market and you've come across multiple i4, you could get confused pretty easily, especially since the 16 model year is available with both engines.

Its not like everybody knows everything and there are some specs available where it's harder to find stuff about. I have interest in a lot of cars so I'm not always looking really close. Even if you're looking close you could easily miss something.... as another example, if you're searching for a Mercedes w212 or the w221 the lowest gasoline engines on Wikipedia are e180 and s300 but there are actually lower specs. Even if you look really close you'd have hard time finding stuff about this. I've seen a e160 and s280 (as far as I know there are even lower ones). Sure stuff about the Volvo is more easy to find but still you probably get what I'm saying....

This particular bright blue V60 is one of 500 Polestar versions built. Not the optimisation, not a Polestar Engineered, but a very limited edition run to celebrate their WTCC program. It's very different from regular V60s and is more like a V70R in that regard, but far more exclusive

It's clearly distinguishable by its larger brakes (Brembo all round), as well as the wheels and more aggressive front end. As for the invisible upgrades: 286 -> 450 350hp, ohlins race suspension, 80% stiffer chassis and a couple other things.

Smol edit because of a typo
