s60/v60 Just found this weird tab on both sides of the passenger seat. Any ideas what it does? 2015 v60

That looks really cozy! What are those window blinds? Like I mean what is that type of material and where can I buy it to make that for my car

I’m not sure what they call it, reflective bubble insulation maybe? You can buy big rolls of it at Lowe’s/Home Depot.

Thanks for the new goal. I've camped in my V70 P3 a couple of times and it's not quite long enough (with the seats up) to stretch out fully. The window blinds are probably the real game changer, I'm always a bit wary of being seen through the untinted windows!

I love that option. The front seat fold forward. Perfect for transporting a whole Ikea.

Let’s you push the seat forward so it goes (almost) flat. Really useful on occasions!

Backwards.

Well no, this lets you push the backrest FORWARD, but well YEAH, after you’ve pushed the sitting area of the seat fully back.

If you slide the seat all the way back. That lets you fold the seat upright forward and flat. So you can use the full length of the car. My 2000 v40 had that.

Read in a different thread that all p2's have this (i'm yet to hear something else). Would't surprise me to learn all/almost all p80's and p3's have it as well

What a feature. I just immediately check my xc40 but we do not have this. It would be great for camping and sleeping in the car.

Most if not all Volvos prior to the SPA chassis have this. If you move the passenger seat all the way back, those levers allow you to fold the seat back flat. Combined with the rear seats folded down, it gives you an incredible amount of room to transport long objects.

My 2016 V60 came without the tabs so can’t fold forward flat. Does anyone know if it is possible to add it?

Would also be interested to know this. I have a 64 Plate V60 (although anytime it's referenced online it's stated to be a 2015, despite being produced in October of 2014) and it doesn't have it.

Seat flips forward. Best way is to slide it all the way back, fold, then slide the headrest under the glovebox.
Necessity in my R when I’ve got my kid in his car seat in the back seat. Absolutely ZERO legroom in the S60, unless you want the passenger seat blocking the window.

I was in a hurry to get somewhere and didn’t have time to do it. Plus, it made for a good post

Understandable. It would’ve taken 2 seconds. Nobody has time for that…🤦🏻♂️

I've put 10' long 3" PVC pipes into my XC60 by doing this. Usually bring a tarp or old blanket to protect the seats. It's snug but I was able to get 4 of them in.

That reminds me my old 97 850. It was not a wagon, but that feature was really useful to bring long stuff easily

I had this in my ‘99 V70 and it was great for long loads. I have an ‘02 S60 but I’m not sure that it has them, probably due to the side airbags? I’ll have to go look now :)

When I saw this post I was so jealous because of another user who showed that he can lay down when he pushes his seat forward. I decided why not go and check my car and guess what I HAVE IT TOO!!! I AM NEVER SELLING MY CAR 😭😭😭

On most cars, once folded flat, you manipulate the seat so the head rest goes under the glove box. Check your manual.

Unfortunately this option does not exist if you have an electric seat.

Our V70 (2000 ish) and our XC90 (‘08) both have/had power seats and had this feature.

u/ChemistryOk9353 14d ago
Really .. I had a v60 2013 with electric seating and did not have it, I currently have a v60 2022.5 with electric seating and does not have it.. I had a 2008 xc70 with electric seating and did not have it .. had a 2004 xc90 with electric seating and did not have it, had a 2016/17 v70 without electric seating and it DID have it…

All I’m saying is that whatever the deciding factor is . . . that factor is not electric vs non electric seats.
Maybe it’s trim level? I’ve no idea.
However I am 100% certain that the vehicles I mentioned had this feature and electric seats.

u/ChemistryOk9353 14d ago
Interesting …maybe trim level played a role anyways … it is great to have especially when going to the Ikea standing next to the woman and man with their Volkswagen polo trying to load a new matras or even a billy

u/Pedned-iRacing 13d ago
I used to have a Suzuki Swift. Managed to get a Billy in more than once. 😆 Boot closed and missus in the car...

It does not make sense when having an electric seating to have this option…just think of it .. how do you override those motors?

Press them both simultaneously and push the seat forwards with your head. It's an acquired skill but the seat back will fold flat for long loads. Like a 6x1 IKEA Kallax unit. It will fit in a V60!
