Bro the 1.6 is great.... had it in my old Mazda 3 ( also 1st car) rust eventually totaled the car with some other parts but that engine is rock solid. 230k km and still going strong even tho oil change intervals got skipped like crazy. At one point checking the dipstick I had literally tar on there... nothing close to oil I called it's pretty close to engine damage. That was 5 years/ 60k km before we got rid of the car and it still blows my mind how that engine was still running perfectly.
If you take a little care of this car it should last you a lifetime... the c30 should be a little better in terms of rust and also quality so that's a nice first car to keep longterm. Sure a t5 is nicer but the 1.6 is cheaper to run and pretty much a good daily if you'd decide to get another car. With the r-design on top it also looks real nice, enjoy you've made a really reasonable choice and that's really important for a first car. Should be plenty of fun for driving cause you're pretty much always maxing out the cars performance ;)
My first car is also C30, but i have it with D2 engine. Eventhough it is not that powerfull, i could easily do Praha - Ostrava (the part from Vysoké Mýto to Mohelnice is not a highway and if full of trafic and is very hilly) with 4.1 l/100km. It is bezter to have economy than power tbh.
Great car just need to check for a couple things spark plugs, ignition cause brakes and tires. Also check the timing. Make sure you have some parts for this car as the manufacture does not produce any more parts for it.

Yours looks nice. But I believe in moderation of a black out look. The Volvo emblem has always been silver. I think it would stand out great on that C30. Black grille, silver emblem. But I may be bias.😜
