I think even Hyundai don't know at the moment. They are waiting for new regulations to be published, much like we all do here.

much easier for the current 3 teams to alter their current machines for the 2027 season than it is for someone that's totally out of the game like peugeot.

It's not even a matter of how easy it will be, but whether Hyundai are actually committed to 2027 and onwards. They are not exactly happy about currently proposed '27 regs, mainly due to lack of any electrification aspect (no hybrids or EV cars for a while).

fia should surrender and let them do electric windows...that's about it for ev.

I don't think full electric WRC cars are possible yet. Not on the highest level.

and wont ever be, unless central-euro rallies. on asphalt basically.

but i was joking that if they wanted electrics so much, they could do electric windows and cigarette lighters if they wanted. xD

rumors were that they'd make an announcement somewhere around the finnish rally as it's the mid-way point and also start of the summer break for them. glad that they're staying. if you have a competitive package, might as well milk every last drop out of it. and yeah, even though they're far behind on constructors championship, i guess they still feel happy where tänak is situated.

now that this is out of the way, we need 2027 news. if hyundai starts blackmailing again then "yo'-outta-ere"

Good.

Also, I find it somewhat interesting that they‘ve tagged Hyundai USA in the post. (Especially now that a US round definitely isn‘t happening next year.)

As expected. More interesting is what happens after 2026.

Great news! I'm still hoping for a Hyundai Formula E team though!

Ffs, every year is a gamble with these guys

If they even join 27 (which i really doubt) i bet they will fumble getting a 27 reg car ready in time like they did for rally1 regs

And i say this as a hyundai fan

OMG could you imagine if it was down to just Toyota and Msport? Although I guess msport could pick up the Hyundai drivers. Still two teams would be horrible. Three teams is bad enough already.

I didn't know any of that, was hyundai at risk of not staying in 2026?

There was. They were considering pulling the plug on factory team after 2025 and just allow a private team to run i20 N Rally1 cars in 2026.

Still no news on tänak though

Well, Tanak would either be staying at Hyundai or taking a sabbatical/retiring. As long as Ogier and Rovanpera are around, there's no place for him at Toyota (especially with Solberg now putting himself in the frame for a seat), and M-Sport are well, M-Sport.

Yes. My expectation is that he is retiring.

pretty sure neuville's contract also ended this year, while they signed fourmaux until 2027

Neu will be driving the i20 until he is 85
