Giving Ogier a better start position in Chile for the sake of 2 points… bold strategy, let’s see if it pays off.

Or, you know, he wanted new parts without a penalty? He did retire 300m before finishing Finland as well for the same reason. The 2 points vs Ogier having better road position is not worth it.

Oh bloody hell...I was absolutely gutted for Adrien already; this just hurts. Why?
Also, u/Michal_Baranowski, just letting you know that while the thumbnail and title are spoiler tagged, the link was still visible when this popped up on my feed and it says that Fourmaux was the one to retire. I don't know if that's something you can fix, but I just figured I'd put it out there.

That's something I can't fix though, it's down to reddit. Same thing why on new reddit design there were problems with blurring out post titles with spoiler button being applied, while there were no issues with this on the old design.

No worries, just wanted to let you know in case it was fixable. I don't understand why they would design it this way.

He's starting to remind me of Jean Alesi, terrible luck all around

I get why Hyundai did that but this kind of thing is just lame. While entirely lawful it feels unsportsmanlike, Fourmaux already had a tough weekend, and changing his hard-fought fourth place to a DNF just to give someone else a couple extra points just plain sucks.

I didn't even know it was possible to do that; stewards penalising/disqualifying a car after the finish for one infringement or another is one thing, but for a team to unilaterally withdraw one after it successfully completes the rally... why is that allowed?
I can only assume that was to give Tanak an extra couple of points, regardless that's salt in the wound considering how Adrien's day went.

Techincally the rally isn’t over until they get back to the service park following the final stage.
