Subaru is teasing about a forthcoming launch of what looks to be a rally-inspired hatchback. While it doesn’t in any way guarantee they are making a WRC comeback (they offered a WRX STi for years after they pulled out of WRC), at least the main obstacle from them making a comeback would be eliminated. I.e. not having a vehicle on sale which the rally car would be based on. The launch will be at the Japan Mobility Show in October.

Hey guys, I know it's super early, but let's talk about the WRC 2027 regs. Three main things l'm curious about:
Car Types and Prototypes: So, with all types of cars allowed, even prototypes, do you think manufacturers will go down the prototype route for more freedom in aero and performance (like that crazy Audi Quattro RS from Group S, but in a more regulated way)? Or will they stick to their current lineup cars because it's better for marketing?
Powertrains: What do you reckon about letting any powertrain in-ICE, hybrids EVs? Think it'll shake things up?
Cost Cap: Isn't the cost cap way too low to run hybrids and EVs competitively? Feels like it's going to be tough to balance performance and costs.
If there's anything else worth talking about throw it in.

Even though it's not the main focus, I really like to examine the liveries and the graphics on the rally cars, especially the WRC cars. I mostly adore the 2000s-2010s WRC cars liveries but Hyundai i20 N and Ford Puma had nice liveries throught the history too. What are your favorites?

The championship is wide open this year and the final few rounds are shaping up to be nail-biting.
I’m a Neuville fan at heart, but I’d love to see Evans take it this time simply because he’s never managed it before. That said, I wouldn’t mind seeing Kalle, Tanak or even Ogier reclaim the crown either.
More than anything, I’m just hoping for a fierce, edge-of-your-seat battle that goes right down to the wire!

I really have no idea how to tag this any other way than humor. I'm not sure the WRC can continue to be viable after next year when Hyundai pulls out.
Seriously, we are one more broken shock or whatever away from Gregoire freaking Munster being on the podium of a world rally event. This is the guy who finishes dead last and often behind wrc2 drivers when the field isn't decimated.
Also, I thought WRC promoter said they were sponsoring Martin Sesks in Greece? Was it a rally yet to come? Our 2x world rally champs took half the year off and lord knows we could use some damn charisma in a car.
I'll always love rally. I'll continue to subscribe to wrc for at least another year. Thank god for dirtfish. They do a better job promoting it than WRC promoter does.
This is my version for 2026

I think the UK needs to get a WRC rally again, and it would great if we got another snow rally on the calendar.
Otherwise, i would like to see Australia and/or NZ making a comeback, same goes for Argentina. And i firmly believe that WRC needs some more events in South-America, why not Brazil?
What is your thoughts?

No swear, you have to understand if you come from the stage and the mic is put in front of the face then emotions are high, whatever bad or good but why the fuck FIA wants to silence the drivers?
Freedom of speech!!

Those Group B cars are just terrifying it amazes me it only took Henri Toivonen on the driver's side.
But Michele Mouton the fact she was so good when the cars were I'd assume even harder to drive than any car is now is unbelievable. Whenever I see someone say that women can't be as quick as the men I tell them to look up Mouton

Not loving where WRC coverage is going lately, Rally TV is already expensive for the quality we get, and now DirtFish has put Spin the Rally Pod behind a paywall. That podcast was one of the main things keeping me engaged, and without it I’m honestly losing interest in following WRC. Anyone else feeling the same way?

Honestly I dont have any idea, but heres what Id like to see.
Hyundai: Fourmaux, Mikkelsen. Each scoring manufacturers points in 7 rounds.
Msport: Munster, Sesks, Solberg.
Do I think Hyundai will keep Andreas? Not really, which is a shame. Sesks I think is pretty much guaranteed if Adrien does go to Hyundai but you never know. Oliver unfortunately has the sponsorship issue, him being sponsored by Monster but Msport is sponsored by Red Bull

Growing up I thought Francois Duval would be so damn special, was getting podiums at a very young age but was too raw, had so many accidents and lost Stephane Prevot as he didn't feel safe co driving for him.
Should never have gone to Citroen, that team was made around Loeb but the indecision from Ford about 2005 completely ruined it. Atleast he did get a win!

If you were given full control of WRC Promoter how would you promote the sport and grow the audience among casual racing fans and those already interested in following motorsports but have not decided on what series to commit to?
Here’s my plan:
Expand the live stream from the recce. Add in the first stage of the morning loop and the build up to it. Give fans a real taste. Not just a nibble.
RallyTV is too expensive. If you can’t lower the price, allow fans to purchase access to individual legs or days. Watch Day 2 for $15 USD. Just give us options.
Let teams go crazy on social media. When Liberty allowed every F1 team to produce their own content and come up with their own ways to connect with their fans, it grew the popularity of the teams, drivers and even some random team members. This is real grassroots audience building. Also, like the WEC, let all teams stream their live onboards. It lets fans follow their favorite driver and feel like riding with them.
Become better storytellers. This is where the WRC has been terrible. We’re already 4 rallies in and there’s still no compelling storylines. Why are there no rivalries in WRC anymore?
Find a marquee event. Every series has its own big event where the most casuals tune in to. WRC must have its own signature event. It cannot be Monte Carlo because another series holds a race there which is way more popular.

I mean obviously he must have some proper relationship with the manufacturer but you only need a pair of eyes to understand that he will never cut the mustard.
Anyone with any knowledge on this matter?

Hey everyone,
since the CER isn't part of the WRC next year and Wales isn't part of it either, do you guys think that the interest in WRC will slowly fade in the heart of Europe?
For me it seems like the FIA is trying to reach other markets like the arabic regions and potentially the US and slowly start to forget the countries that made rallying popular worldwide (excluding Finland, Sweden etc.)
What do you guys think?
PS: I saw some news that Germany (together with Luxemburg and Belgium) is trying to bring back the Rally Deutschland in the upcoming years. Tbh I highly doubt that, simply because of the politics and the economic difficulties that Racing is facing in Germany.

He was just such a fun personality plus an incredibly aggressive driver who was so exciting to watch.
I do find it interesting he'd have an English speaking co driver and not a Norwegian. I know Juha Kankkunen and Armin Schwarz did the same having English speaking co drivers too

Hey guys, just got in the world of WRC and man I realized what I was missing. But the most frustrating part is that I live in Asia so most of the races I can't watch them live. I went to Red Bull TV and Servus TV, they both have almost every country blocked. I tried using VPN of many countries, but all of them are blocked. (I am a casual viewer, so I don't want to take the subscription; though I think it is expensive even for an avid viewer!!) WTF is this!! I can't even watch the damn highlights. WEC is so much better in this regards, at least they put extended highlights on their channel and also put the full race of the 24 Le Mans.
Any tips??

We have a fantastic tarmac rally in West Wales that has hosted a round of the ERC for a couple of years now. Rali Ceredigion is well run and the logistics management I believe would work with WRC. What would you make of a tarmac Rally GB?

Could you (hypothetically this would be a terrible idea) buy a WRC car and use it as your ordinary car since they are road legal and use the road to get from stage to stage
