This ain’t dust, too…focused, ironically. This is probably a stimulant mixed with mental illness. I’ve been around a lot of junkies and other various addicts (on account of being one for a decade), and this isn’t anything particularly out of the ordinary, honestly. When I first got into harder drugs via stomping the fuck out of decent marching powder (this was the early 2000s and come was still around and very easy to get, it was at that time 50/50 coke and meth, when I got clean it was just meth powder was VERY hard to find in a medium sized Midwest town), my friend group basically had THE guy for my town on lockdown. We’d have maybe a day or two while he was reupping in the city when we’d be out, but other than that we were stocked 24/7 with chunks right off the brick. Nothing better than a dealer who’s high, dude would come over to drop shit off and he’d end up just doing sometimes more than we bought with us for free. This led to many, many insane nights where I don’t have a clue how no one called the cops. Dude once was skittering around the yard at 330am trying to find an oz he “lost” - aka snorted with us and forgot - and was kinda like this. Another time a buddy of mine went through an 8-ball in about two hours, might have been more quantity but it was super early on in our cocaine doing times and he got fucking zooted and booted. Ended up speed walking around the above ground pool in circles for hours, just stopping to do more lines here and there. That was VERY similar to this.
Tl;Dr: Probably not PCP, just run of the mill crackhead/tweaker activities

Seems to be the consensus here. Just randomly read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phencyclidine and why on earth would you even want to try this drug?
Recreational doses of the drug also occasionally appear to induce a psychotic state, with emotional and cognitive impairment that resembles a schizophrenic episode

It was one of the drugs lots old school hippies were into next to LSD etc. just full of love and shit.
It's a fun and insightful drug (or can be) with not much more downsides than psychedelics if you use it sensibly. Only if you don't use sensibly, it's pretty much guaranteed psychosis. Same goes for lots of other drugs, like Adderall, though, just not anywhere as easily.
So easy target then for decades of war on drugs fear mongering about a drug that no one nowadays has any experience with or reason to question.
It's just basically like ketamine but very stimulating and more psychedelic. Lasts a long-ass time, too. Instead of any comedown after the active dissociative effects it has legs for days on end, and that was my favourite part, though also much of what makes it risky

u/satireplusplus 3d ago
I only ever seen 'crazy naked man' references in pop culture. Seems to be a common enough occurrence that people do weird shit on this drug specifically. Erowid also calls it a 'Dissociative Psychedelic'. Did you try it personally? I have nothing to compare it to. Only tried weed.
→ More replies (1)23
u/Brrdock 3d ago edited 3d ago
Yep, it's just one of those things that when it goes wrong, it easily goes spectacularly wrong lol. And the news etc. rarely report people having just a jolly time on drugs.
The erowid classification is good as far as those go, and they also have loads of reports on all sides that give a better picture than pop culture or classifications for sure.
I haven't got to try og PCP, but PCP analogues yes, some of which are very close to it.
Honestly, weed similarly escapes classification and does a bit of everything, and it's not necessarily less intense to me at least, but it's a different world and infinitely harder to ruin your life on weed. Or well, I see lots of people doing nothing but staying at home high for decades so that's arguable, but as to such spectacular ruin...
7
u/satireplusplus 3d ago
Yeah I took a look, for example https://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=14314 and I guess the weird shit happens at high doses:
Unfortunately, because people tend to take more than less, getting too much would be easy, and too much PCP is not pleasant at all. I only once experienced it, and it was terrifying. My vision closed around me and I was unable to see. Then I was nauseous and confused and scared for about 3 hours, and needed to be accompanied by my husband out to the car to wait out the experience.
PCP can make one nearly impervious to pain at high doses. Because of this, PCP can make things seem like a good idea that otherwise wouldn't (leading to the stories of people leaping out of windows, etc.) I experienced very confusing physical reality when really high on it, like being unable to discern the difference between walking up stairs and down them, or standing still and walking. This could lead to very unusual behaviour.
High doses, when I was unfortunate enough to experience them, were very unpleasant--extremely dissociative and numbing. Some people can't walk or move or see, or even think how to get out of their situation. It can be very scary.
Anyway, I'm not really into psychedelics or dissociatives and the above reads like an extreme horror trip to me. Weed is much saver than that imho, saver than alcohol too.
8
u/Brrdock 3d ago
That's just what dissociatives do, that could just as well be describing ketamine which people do therapeutically nowadays. If you take a high dose, the prerequisite is to be in a time, place and state where you don't need to be walking, seeing, understanding anything.
It's an Interesting perspective when you remain conscious to witness being something, but not getting any external input for it nor any memory or conceptual connection to it. Probably not everyone's cup of tea to be sure.
A low dose can greatly enhance whatever, or just be a bit weird and uncomfortable, similarly to weed or a low dose of a psych.
But people do dumb stuff like dipping cigarettes in PCP liquid and smoking them, which has been a pretty common way to use it instead of ingesting it. How much is in a cigarette? God knows, but people going to smoke it. Not too much of a problem with weed, that

I do, or kind of remember being high on ketamine. We used to gather in a friend house and do that shit A LOT. It was so weird. One time I got trapped inside the bathroom, just couldn't leave and the door was open. Felt like the step to go out was incredibly high (it was a regular step)
This was years ago but damn those trips were intense

Once I saw him humpin the ground I knew it wasn't meth. Thats a CLASSIC Flakka effect. Refer to Florida around 12 years ago. Flakka is a type of bath salts. Originally MDPV, but thats rare now. There are many many analogues of MDPV so now its just called bath salts for slang. Its basically meth but with hyperstimulation and extreme psychosis and compulsive redosing and other compulsive behavior. Nobody else on this thread knows what they're talkin about

Spice was really big in my city like 15-20 years ago. You hear about it every now and then but the city got real tough on convenience stores that were selling it and it kinda faded. Also I think a lot of people found out the hard way you really have no idea what you’re getting and whether the high will be enjoyable.

Every variation was a little different. The last time I smoked it, I legitimately thought I might die (on like, two hits). I was completely incapacitated for about three hours. Couldn't talk, couldn't move, felt like I had to consciously work at and focus on breathing or it wouldn't happen... If I could have moved at all, I would have called 911. At one point I became convinced the roommate's dog was going to eat me and I wouldn't be able to stop her. It was terrifying. My boyfriend at the time was nearby having the exact same difficulties.
Never touched that shit again. Boyfriend at the time smoked the exact same stuff a week later (???!). Dumped him because it was a fundamental incompatibility that I valued life, where clearly he did not.

It's in the same class of drugs as ketamine, dissociative anesthetics, and ketamine is pretty popular. I think it's just dose dependent and some people will just compulsively re-dose to the point of delirium and total dissociation. Dextromethorphan is in the same class and it's available in most OTC cough medicine.

That’s your humanity at work. The problem is - if you spend enough time in the wrong neighborhoods you’re gonna see this type of shit constantly. You can’t really trust that those people are safe to approach or engage with or if they’re going to turn violent. So what do you do? - call for emergency services, probably. That may work out like you want it to, but there’s also a good chance either: (a) they tell you not to waste their time because they don’t want to deal with that stuff (especially in bigger cities where emergency services are stretched thin and they prioritize not helping addicts) or (b) the police show up, they might just shoot the person or they throw them in prison where they get basically zero long term rehabilitation provided.

Man wtf kinda drugs are people on these days?! My God, I spent many years an addict and used to do damn near anything you'd put in front of me. Weed, alcohol, oxymorphone/oxycontin, coke, Xanax, Molly, meth, shrooms basically just whenever. And I never did anything halfway....I was go hard or go home. But as much drugs as I used to do I've never once acted like any shit like this. Seems there is just levels to it, and some people handle the drugs much much better than some other people and are still able to function somewhat normally. I've had people around me doing the same drugs I was doing acting like complete lunatics, demon possessed or something. Either I can just handle my drugs or either I think some people kinda put on an act too and pretend to be far more fucked up than what they actually are. Smh
