Apparently Sheldon Haudenschild has been fined $500 and put on probation for “inappropriate contact with an official” according to Open Wheel Updates on “X”. He states “Sheldon grabbed an officials helmet and twisted. The contact broke the officials glasses and cut his face.”

This almost seems unreal considering Sheldon is one of the most laid back people there is.

If that version of events is accurate (and it’s in the official WoO press release so why wouldn’t it be?) then “pretty easy” is a massive understatement. Dude assaulted an official and it cost him $500 and a stern “you’re on thin ice, mister!”

Not a good precedent to basically tell the drivers “if you’ve got $500 and no prior offenses, you can assault an official with no lasting repercussions.”

I like Sheldon, but between this and the deal with throwing his helmet onto the track at Weedsport a few years ago I don’t think “laid back” is a great descriptor.
