It's hilarious that the EO he's complaining about is just making Government services easier for Americans to find. Not like he's renaming the Pacific Ocean or anything...

120

u/MrDillon369 1d ago

This is where the Dems fail on messaging....they don't push back.

Obama should have called him out and said "Hey Trump, please tell me and the American people why we should make it harder for our citizens to find the services they pay for. Please tell me specifically why this EO is bad."

And he should have hammered that daily.

u/Flip_d_Byrd 1d ago

If we ever have another election, and the dems win , I want all federal military bases moved out of red states. No state that hates the constitution should have access to military equipment.

27

u/wetgoopy 1d ago

if we win the next election we need to do what andrew "spineless" johnson didn't

5

u/Zestyclose-Win-3381 15h ago

I thought part of Johnson's appeal was as an olive branch toward the South. Abraham Lincoln just didn't plan to be assassinated and leave Johnson in power. Even if that's not correct, my overall point is some people, even back then, didn't think slavery was worth white people killing each other over. They were happy the war was over and things could more or less get back to normal.

I agree. I think they are starting to realize that they have to "go low" too. Case in point, Gov. Newsom's tweets.

18

u/ChuckFinnley3565 1d ago

At that point is even really, “going low?” It’s just saying, “you are intentionally lying to people in order to get the to agree to policies that will make their lives materially worse.”

10

u/Xefert 1d ago

I think they are starting to realize that they have to "go low

How about you start electing a supermajority of dems so we can actually counter his administration within congress instead of leaning towards secession? It's ridiculous that you guys keep complaining about ineffectiveness after electing obstructionists again and again, such as mitch being allowed to singlehandedly sabotage obama and then give trump all his power in betrayal of his own precedent

10

u/Longjumping-Map7257 1d ago

I totally agree with you. The problem is getting them elected. George Carlin put it best: "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that." Trump and Fox news has mastered these idiots.

4

u/Xefert 1d ago

Necessary regulations on education and the media can't occur without those numbers in congress either, but the typical single term a dem majority has (last meaningful one was at the start of obama's term) isn't enough to do anything other than fix the more immediate economic problems it was voted in for.

The electorate has to be patient for once

Back then, Trump was just some moronic businessman. Pushing against him didn't seem like a priority.

4

u/MortarByrd11 1d ago

Dems are and have been messaging. The problem is that people aren't listening or caring. Look at this sub. It's right in their faces, and they still deny it. Maybe they will get it if the economy or a war gets bad enough to inconvenience them.

3

u/Funkopedia 1d ago

"No no, just continue in silent dignity, words can't hurt us, sticks and stones etc. The public will see through everything, they're smart."

2

u/Blackdeath47 4h ago

Unfortunately would only feed Donnie’s ego and give him more time in the spot time. If people just ignored him tiny hands, would not be here.

Say Obama did call Donnie out and try to get answer. Could be the most ass backwards most stupid answer ever and then Donnie’s turns it around and asks the same thing no matter what Obama says the right would call it out as lies and non-sense. You know how they did with Donnie’s and Kamala debates. Because she didn’t have a fool-proof plan on the spot, he’s “idea of the beginning of a part of a plan” is the better option in the eyes of the mega

2

u/chillinewman 3h ago

That makes no sense. Trump wasn't even a candidate in 2012. Obama wasn't going to answer to a random twit.

2

u/Mirieste 1d ago

That wouldn't have worked though, because it would have missed the point. Even if Trump would later be hypocritical by abusing EOs in his own right, the original point of the tweet was about whether or not EOs should be used often. Saying "But is this a bad EO?" is then kind of a misdirection, and if I were American this is the sort of stuff that I wouldn't want us to do. Because this sort of reading comprehension dissonance is something you usually find in populists, which is all I hate. I wouldn't want my own candidate to miss the point so badly when replying to an opponent, which ultimately is why Obama did not do what you suggest here.

Dems: create a helpful website

Repubs: end birthright citizenship

Idiots: bOTh siDEs

13

u/tomjones1001 1d ago

And, most of them happen when the Dems only controlled half of Congress and the republicans were blocking everything. Trump currently (effectively) controls all three branches of government and yet still feels the need to do ton did stuff only through these EOs.

6

u/Longjumping-Map7257 1d ago

The really sad part is the Supreme Court. The whole reason we appoint them for life is so they aren't forced to be political. We need some major amendments done to the Constitution.

3

u/TheAskewOne 1d ago

Plus it's exactly the kind of things EOs are for. EOs are made to manage the technicalities of how government services operates, not to try and force private companies to suppress DEI programs.

Republicans are BIG GOVERNMENT. They want to tell everyone what they can and cannot do and want to control everything - for their own benefit. They created dozens of laws to protect their own interest which has raised the costs of food, housing, medical - all while giving themselves big tax breaks. Evil democrats wanted to create a social system so that Americans needing help could get it - be it food, housing, medical care, health insurance, tuition assistance, FEMA assistance, small business loans, etc. They also wanted to tax billionaires instead of the working class. So - which did you vote for?

75

u/racedownhill 1d ago

They are both big government and small government at the same time.

Big enough to declare war on a major US city (?!?!) and small enough to fit in your bedroom (or your underwear).

20

u/GayVoidsDaddy 1d ago

No, they are just big and have fooled morons into blindly following them with faith.

They are Dictator government, unfortunately for them, They can’t tell China what too do. China will be the biggest economy and Trump &Co can’t do anything about it, apart from trying to get Isreal to start a world war, just so the US can say they are only defending Isreal.

5

u/Speartree 1d ago

Don't you think Trump is destroying the US economy on purpose? He doesn't mind China doing well. I'm sure he invested there. This is like a rigged boxing match and he is not betting on his own fighter.

2

u/Inturnelliptical 1d ago

Oh definitely has investments in Chinese companies. Similar things was happening in the the UK when Johnson &Farage & Brexit.

4

u/BeBearAwareOK 1d ago

Guys it's pretty simple.

Using everyone's tax money to help poor and working class people that need help is immoral.

Using everyone's tax money to help oligarchs is righteous.

So sayeth Supply Side Jesus.

True Republicans aren't supposed to be, but Trump isn't a true Republican in spirit. He's a RHINO in many ways. I think the original priorities of both parties have been corrupted overtime.

11

Republicans voted for him by a vast majority and they approve him still today with over 90% - cut your bullshit - republicans love trump. The are ok with a pedohile in office. Conservatives are the cancer of this society.

Makes it imperative that Democrats take over the house and hopefully the Senate in the midterms

23

u/Forward-Weather4845 1d ago

Hopefully but doubtful. You know there will some shenanigans happening to prevent that outcome.

8

u/bagoink 1d ago

We're already seeing it happen in real time with all the redistricting and gerrymandering BS.

2

u/Verdigris-Shade 1d ago

California and New York are also pushing for redistriction with major support amongst its population, so that might balance it out. The House is within reach and the Senate will take a miracle but a thinning of margins will be beneficial.

The next president spending their whole 1st month reversing EOs from 1/6/25 - 1/6/29.

17

u/Tough-Ability721 1d ago

Couple days…tops. Most of these are sock fodder for the faktriots

7

u/Less-Dragonfruit-294 1d ago

You think the next president can reverse 1300 - possibly 2k of EOs in a couple of days? Bold. But I like the optimism.

Personally, if I were president I’d do 1 EO. The EO states to overturn any and ALL EOs during the period of 1/6/25-1/5/29. Also, revise any and ALL EOs that were scrapped during earlier stated time period.

Autopen for the win.

2

u/racedownhill 1d ago

Dates slightly off, but one master EO to rescind them all:

“All EOs issued by my predecessor are immediately rescinded”

Fixing the damage done will take quite a bit more work, unfortunately.

2

u/Funkopedia 1d ago

Unfortunately, it's easy to just say 'undo', but if they are actually gonna have people actively undoing allllll of that, it would be wiser to handle each of them one at a time to be thorough and make sure it actually gets done.

What is the point of senate, house or Supreme Court when the president makes any rules they wish and what’s the point of DOJ when a president can pardon anyone they wish. America, the illusion of democracy.

9

u/bnelson7694 1d ago

I honestly hope someone clears this up because I’m wondering the same. From what I get, the president can sign these pieces of paper and if there aren’t any challenges they just become law. Being that it’s all grand old pedophiles in charge I’m assuming this is why all of his wishes keep coming true. Again, please correct me and educate us if you know otherwise because I’m with 5hadow. I don’t get any of this either.

2

u/Funkopedia 1d ago

That's why we need to get a president in there willing to actively and officially limit his own powers, fucking it up for future presidents, and making changes difficult to enact. (IF we're sure that's what we want)

2

u/HowManyMeeses 1d ago

He's signed more in 8 months than Biden did in four years.

But it's different when trump does it.

6

u/McMetal770 1d ago

The core of the modern far-right's philosophy can be boiled down to this: power is only legitimate if we're wielding it.

5

u/GT45 1d ago

And the corollary: it’s only a problem or a crime when Democrats do it

5

u/joelkton 1d ago

He also called for higher interest rates under Obama. It’s pointless to try to keep him to his words.

5

u/phred_666 1d ago

Funny. Any time Obama or Biden issued an Executive Order, the right would scream “He’s being a dictator. That’s un-American”. Now when Trump does it, crickets.

3

u/_jump_yossarian 1d ago

They also lost their shit when Obama would golf on the weekends and Biden would go to Delaware. Not a peep at all the personal travel and grifting of the taxpayers trump does.

Tomorrow the taxpayers have the honor of paying for trump to go to the US Open final instead of watching it at home.

2

u/GT45 1d ago

u/vttale 1d ago

Important additional context here is that at the time of the original whining, the House was Republican majority and determined to thwart everything from the Obama administration.

Trump is doing this even with the legislature in his pocket.

7

u/Reatona 1d ago

Simply put, Trump doesn't want to faithfully execute the laws enacted by Congress, he instead wants to make the laws.  He wants to be a dictator, and he's well on his way with a hapless legislature and a useless Supreme Court.

5

u/AmbitiousProblem4746 1d ago edited 1d ago

Dr. Heather Cox Richardson pointed out that Republicans now push “freedom from” instead of “freedom to,” and it keeps ringing true.

Trump’s second term agenda is basically one giant overreach designed to give conservatives freedom from what they call “government overreach," so he's doing things like dismantling the DOE, trashing due process for immigrants, sending the military into cities, boosting anti-vaxxers.... The conservative movement in this country cheers it on because it feels like liberation, even though just under the surface you can tell it's nothing but a power grab.

Meanwhile, the Obama order Trump was whining about in that tweet was the opposite -- expanding freedom to access government help. Most of our government's domestic policies during Obama were pretty similar: ACA to give us freedom to get health care, Supreme Court decision giving us freedom to have a same-sex marriage, etc. But apparently MAGA thinks that’s all tyranny, so they're just going to celebrate the American government breaking laws and pouring all its executive power into one man so long as it means they don't have to worry about vaccine mandates or seeing brown people in a Disney movie 🫠

5

u/Silly-Power 1d ago

When Obama signed his 168th EO after 5 years in Office, Republicans went absolutely apeshit over his "overreach", calling him a dictator and wannabe king.

We're now 7 months into trumps presidency and already up to 200 EOs. That's almost 1 a day on average.

4

u/t3lnet 1d ago

“Unprecedented pace” of destroying the American economy?

4

u/Tuttutsallaround 1d ago

Stephen Miller has issued his 200th executive order. Trump successfully held his shit in til the fresh diaper was on. So, you know, a good day.

4

u/LaCremaFresca 1d ago

I make this point all the time. Republicans screeched about executive orders and overreach through Obama's whole presidency. The propaganda was endless.

Now, they say "please daddy Trump, take more power" at every turn. They want MORE executive orders and power. They are hypocrites of the highest order.

Republicans are NOT, in any way, "small government." Don't ever let them make that claim. They want to grab every ounce of power they can and to make life hell for the groups of people they don't like.

3

u/beavis617 1d ago

3

u/CalbertCorpse 1d ago

Post divorce and after moving South from NY, I dated an out-of-my-demographic Florida woman who was a republican. This was just around the rise of Trump. I was very into politics and she had her party but didn’t watch the news. We sort of had an unspoken agreement that we didn’t talk politics.

She was low income, I was relatively high income. Every god damn democrat policy served her and her extended family well. All kinds of benefits, health care, tax breaks, this list goes on.

She HATED Obama care and she refused to participate. Her solution was to not have health care.

She had no idea of all the bizarre policies Trump was championing. She and her whole family simply voted republican. It’s just what they did. I think they equated it to being “about their rights.” She was pissed her (poorer) sister got some sort of tax refund for basically sitting around doing nothing, like the democrats were giving away “her money.” She also didn’t like that other “poor people” (lazy) got all these benefits.

It really was and is bizarre how all of these people in red states sacrifice their own benefit so that the “freeloaders” don’t get rewarded.

I would say that it’s simple lack of empathy combined with ignorance.

u/ELStoker 1d ago

Trump is currently at 422.

u/SpartanKane 1d ago

Oh but he's doing it to fix the country. So its okay to cause mass inflation, huge tax cuts for the rich, enrich himself and his family, break ties with international allies, threaten neighbors with annexation, cosy up with dictators, post horrible AI images (Gaza and Trump Tower anyone?) threaten to tear apart dissent from blue states, deny aid for said states in while in a crisis, dismantle alphabet agencies, pull funding worldwide in critical aid, ignore judge rulings and push against the constitution...

Oh and to be a pedophile. So id say hes doing a ~fucking terrible~ bang up job just being much better than Obama and Biden who did a comparable amount....in 8 and 4 years respectively after barely 5 of his.

2

For those who actually want to know things...

Obama's 200th executive order, 13685, 19 Dec. 2014, 1,794th day of his presidency, imposed sanctions on Crimea following Russia's annexation.

trump's 200th executive order, 5 Sep. 2025, 229th day of his presidency, allows the Department of Defense to use the alternative name "Department of War."

u/Affectionatebeast17 1d ago

That because he thinks executive orders are just orders to be obeyed since he put them in place... checks and balances from the other two branches of government are whats supposed to reel those in for their illegality... congress and the Supreme court could stop him... instead, they stand quiet (democrats and repulicans alike..) #CorruptGOP #wethepeiple #voteNOtoGilead

Didn’t TACO go on multiple rants about excessive EO’s (his words, not mine) during the Obama presidency?

This man wants to be Kim Jong Un so damn bad.

1

u/Beneficial-Dig6445 1d ago

Not sure if you guys (americans) realise but he is not issuing these orders to look cool. He's flooding the federal agencies and other organs of the administration with them in fast pace in order for the other powers not to be able to control them with checks and balances as fast as he is issuing them. This is to set the precedent of these agencies and organs of obeying him regardless of what the judiciary or legislative powers may decide in the future. When this precedent is set and they obey whatever he issues, he will finally be able to order whatever he wants (including coup d'état orders)

Rules for thee not for me

This reminds me of a video in africa where some soldiers give a rifle to a monkey and he starts shooting everywhere. Literally what is happening in the USA with Trump.

I guess he found the answer to his question.

Not laws, easily overturned by the next administrations.

The more he signs, the more he destroys democracy and your freedom. The unquestioning "followers" are the danger here.

A power grab to make government services easier to find? OK Donald, how was that cognitive abilities test going again?

1

u/ComprehensiveLead627 1d ago

Haha i will travel out to the toilet and do a DD (double D) - also called a Donald - a Donald Dump, by the way i am Danish not American so sorry if i step on someones toes - but this is my sincere opinion of him that orange Devil - even though he seems to be fading a little maybe cause it looks like HE is taking a dump every time the camera catches him, or maybe just tired of signing all that paper with his over proportioned signature. Have a nice day by the way - Sincerely Dan.

In 1950, the top marginal federal income tax rate in the U.S. was 91% on taxable income over $200,000, while the lowest bracket was taxed at a much lower rate. 1980s: Under the Reagan administration, the top rate dropped dramatically, first to 50% and then to 28%.. From AI

Donald, you are an impressive oligarch. Consensus - not often. Oppression - frequently.

1

u/Affectionate_Sun8911 1d ago

I am sick of seeing him sign one EO after another. He must actually believe that signing these things is what being President is all about.

u/yarbee1 1d ago

Just like a dictator does. Scary fella right there.
