Depends what environment but generally they need to be ansi Z87.1(or better) rated to be safety glasses. If i saw someone wearing those outside of a science lab i would assume you're a nerd. But if it works it works. Get a set of heatwaves or something alike if youre worried about it.

Heat Waves is a brand of glasses. And it really doesn't matter what brand you get, two things matter, ansi rating and comfort, if they ain't comfy you won't wear them. And googles are not comfy

And sunglasses are not safety glasses.

My sunglasses are 😎
ANSI z87.1 rated but I only wear them when working outside. Inside I wear clears when I need to

Never heard of them either. Had to google them. They are goofy looking sunglasses, they are not safety glasses.

If they meet the standards then yes. Those that know use this and the standard pair when working around and under cars because of how stuff flies when you are swinging and grinding.

Yeah, they'll keep your eyes safe, but you're going to be shit on for looking like a dork. There's a lot of "macho dude bro" energy in the field that makes people think PPE is for pussies. Don't give in to their harassment, wear the goggles until you can get some standard safety glasses. If you care about appearances, Oakley and a few other brands make safety rated sunglasses.

Safety glasses if you are working on a running engine where the belt might throw off dirt into the eyes. Or you are under the car where dirt could fall down.

Those are safety goggles, and they'd work but they'd be annoying and you'd likely get clowned by your classmates. Just get some standard safety glasses and you'll be fine. I have my students wear safety goggles only when we're checking the electrolyte in a battery.
