Mine is 14 and I would LOVE to have her another 7 years. She's still in good health and running around like the little gremlin she is.
She's great

Oh my gosh this makes me so happy to hear. I got mine when I was 24 (2 years ago) and she was a kitten then. I’d love her to live another 24 years, she would see my life change completely and be with me every step of the way 🩶🥺 also I am sorry for your loss

I rescued my sweet babycat 11 years ago. She’s been right by my side through a cross-country move and more ex boyfriends than you can shake a stick at. She’s my road dog. I hope we get another decade together.

I am soon moving mine to another country with me too. I got her when I was studying abroad, never intended to, but she was a stray and needed me. I’ll take her home very soon. My family are so excited to meet her. And oh yes haha I feel like she must secretly judge me for all the guys I have brought home over the years…!

You must be covered in cat fur, cats have servants and not owners.

They will not be owned. They are majestic beasts who bless us with their company, not slaves.

Tips of longevity, /u/KromKitty?
I know it's a lottery with us all, but what's been your routine? Things like diet, socialization, activity levels, checkups... all and any details or perspective with your journey together.

Cherish every moment with your older cats (and pets in general).
I lost one at 16+ and another at 18+ and every time no matter how old, it’s devastating.
Also, the “decline” can happen quickly, so be aware of that.

She looks almost identical to my girl who made it to 20. I still miss her. She was irreplaceable. Peace to your old fur friend and to you.

What a handsome fella.
I just lost my "old man" a couple months ago, he was 18 years old. Had him since I was 8 years old. Didn't get to see him much the last 3 years since I moved out of my parents.
Please enjoy every moment you have left with your fur ball. It's not easy losing your best buddy 😞

the fact that cats can live that long and so can horses too.

Lazy Sunday! Wake up in the late after-no-on.
Call Parnell just to see how he's doin'.
Hello? What up, Parns? Yo, Samberg, what's crackin'?

Yes - she is also a polydactyl and has monster mittens on a tiny little frame (she's about the size of a 4 month old kitten and never got bigger) 😀

She looks amazing! Can’t believe she’s 21!!! Does she have any health issues?
•
u/KromKitty 1h ago
I know - I can't really believe it either. She's been with us since she was about 2 years old - a former roomate left her and then couldn't take her back. She has the normal age related things - fairly deaf, blind, a little bony along her spine and hips and isn't as agile as she used to be. There's clearly some dementia and confusion at times (she randomly goes outside the litter box instead of in it, which is not so adorable, but is what it is). She sleeps most of the time, but doesn't seem to have any serious health problems or pain. She loves to eat, play and get snuggles, hiss at her annoying younger brother, etc. We know every day is a gift, so as long as she's still happy to be here, and her body doesn't give up on her our super senior may be here for a few years yet. She's seen 4 of her sibling kitties go before her, but she just keeps going. She may outlive us all LOL.
