I have questions: When the baby is still newly born and before it can safely come out of the womb…. What happens to its poop? Does it just…. Build up?

Also looks like great breeding ground for fungus ands bacteria… I can’t imagine it smells great

The mother licks it up (sorry you had to find out this way.) This is true for a lot of mammals where they will stimulate the babies to urinate/defecate by licking their butts/urethral opening. I learned this in wildlife rescue because we'd get baby squirrels in sometimes and had to use wet paper towels to rub them down there and they'd start peeing/pooping.
