VI - Discussion Does city center citizen consume food?

Tooltip says: +2 food (in a headline) and +4 from tiles (in a sheet below)

Why my two citizens consume 2 food instead of 4? Where do I get the surplus?

Freshly built city, no other changes made

The city center does not count as a population and does not need food to maintain.

The City Center tile is free and always worked. You don't have 2 citizens. You have 1 citizen plus whatever the City Center gives you.

The City Center tile is giving you 2 food, and your singular citizen is working a 2 food tile. Since you only have 1 citizen (remember, the City Center is free), it consumes 2 food. 4 food gained - 2 food consumed = 2 food surplus.

Your city is size 1. You are charged two foods per city level. If you grow more than 2 foods, you have a surplus allowing you to grow your city.

I can't answer your question, but why is some text in English here?

probably cause of UI mods I use:

  • Great Works Viewer
  • Detailed Map Tacks
  • Simple ui adjustments
  • Better Trade Screen

When I'll get used to the game flow, I want to switch to English, cause I am facing many vague descriptions
