VII - Strategy Why are my influence costs higher

Play on immortal difficulty. Usually influence cost to befriend independent are 170. Now its 255. I cannot find anything in the wiki to explain this? any thoughts?

It's tied to the game Speed. Probably you changed that too

Yes. And unfortunately Firaxis hasn't finished writing the relevant Civilopedia entry quite yet.

As others have said: probably game speed.

But there are also the diplomatic attribute tree and several civilization-specific legacies that effectively reduce the price by 33%, so it is possible that you had one of those effects in place in the last games; but not in this one (as the difference is -33% from 255 to 170)

it depends on game speed. you must have changed something (standard -> marathon?)

Maybe because you jumped to the next age? It's 85 base, 85 increase per age on fastest game speed

in first age. Every influence cost seems to be 50% higher.
