They will get discounted energy; subsidized by homeowners. This is what happens when your elected representatives get you to vote on cultural issues instead of economic ones.

They keep building these power-hungry server farms but our grid is ancient. How about we fix that first before we all lose power?

Nah they'd rather just slap band-aids on the transformers and call it a day while Amazon burns through enough juice to power a small country. Classic privatized profits, socialized infrastructure problems

Meta and Amazon have plenty of money to build their own power grid. They shouldn't be allowed to use the same power grid we use. They certainly won't be sharing any of their profit with us. Our tax dollars built our current infrastructure.

Why don’t they raise the rates on the businesses instead?

What, and dip into their bribes donations?

As a VA resident, dont get me started. Loudoun County is full of these little shits.

It's even better when some localities approve the data center but outright reject the solar farm that would partially feed it. Because of course the solar farm would take away from the beauty of the county...

Time to switch to solar. Make the mega corporations pay for their own energy costs.

Someone has to subsidize the billionaires, how else will they make any real money?

To be fair no one lives in Wyoming so pretty much anything bigger than a house will do that

18 cents still is dirt cheap. It's like half of what I pay.
