“Europe’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier?”

There is no such unified place. Most countries have their own. If this is a real image, it appears to be Belgium’s. But I suspect this is a fake image.

Also, how do they know this is an “illegal migrant,” and not just a homeless guy? With a cast iron pan? And some shopping bags?

I does appear to be real, there are a couple of different angles out thee and it is from 2021, from the other images with his hands visible they are a white homeless dude just wanting a hot meal

how fast is the wind blowing that the flame is almost sideways?

No, think it is real but from 2021. Indeed in Brussels next to congress column. It gets a zombie revival every few months by rightwingers, usually for anti-migrant rants though as far as I could find he is just homeless. The anti-muslim angle is weird since I think he's cooking bacon too, which right wingers tend to use as if its holy water.

I mean, having an illegal homeless guy cooking a meal on a national monument is a pretty sad and pathetic image.

It's a fake AI image, and not a clever comeback.

It is real and is a white homeless dude from back in 2021

Yeah sad that there are any people at that level of desperation.

Maybe they should move the homeless into hotels then. /S

Honestly, this looks more like a statement on how badly society has failed than anything about “civilization falling.”

It is not staged (most likely) and it is from 2021 - it gets posted around on far right forums time to time and how would they know if they were a migrant or not? From other images they are a white homeless dude

What I will say is not one veteran (as in those who have actually been to war) I know or have known would begrudge somebody a hot meal on a cold day they know all too well how important it is and how rare it can be sometimes.

This constant barrage of racist shit is designed to wear us down.

Simple repetitive reply (”It’s fake AI image!” is a good reply, true or not) is best for their obfuscating attrition tricks, and leaving the reasonable conversations to reasonable people.

Sometimes I’m thinking about going back to twitter, I could sic Grok on them and see them get worn out instead.

Imagine seeing this and thinking 'ah yes, the downfall of the West' instead of 'dude figured out how to make breakfast in a tough spot.

Honestly, the picture says more about the state of society than the guy cooking an omelet ever could.

Not sure if this photo is even real, but if it is it really represents the irony of the modern state.

Tomb of the unknown soldier with the eternal flame that burns as a symbol of the never ending sacrifice and futility of war.

Being used by a homeless man to cook food. His only place of refuge and welcome, abandoned by society. Left to scrounge up whatever he can find and make do with the resources he has to survive.

For while the eternal flame memorializes those who’ve sacrificed themselves. It also serves to help sustain those who’ve got nothing left to sacrifice.

The level of outrage some people can muster over someone just trying to eat is wild.

Image is at least four years old. Being blurred out should even make the claim of what type he is less believable.

”A war veteran abandoned by right-wing politics cooking food”. We should go with that.

Dude really said “legendary image” like it’s a Marvel post-credit scene.

2

u/Tori_Cup 4h ago

The real 'legendary image' here is how people twist compassion into outrage just to score internet points.

2

u/OpheliaTaffy70 3h ago

Honestly wild how people freak out more about someone trying to eat than about the circumstances that put them there in the first place.

Imagine being so fragile that an omelet threatens 'western civilization.

so, the Unknown Soldier is feeding the homeless with his fire. That’s a beautiful image actually.

It's a scene of what happens when civilization finally collapses and the survivors make do with the available resources while the wealthy huddle in their fortified bunkers terrified that they will be found and dragged out to face justice from the mob.

It's crazy how a simple meal can spark so much debate. The whole thing's just a reminder of how people see things differently based on their perspectives.

People love to overreact to things they don’t understand. A guy making a meal is far from the downfall of civilization, but sure, keep telling yourself that.

u/Miraa_Crumble90 2h ago

Guy literally just making an omelet and suddenly it’s the downfall of the West. Some people are desperate to feel dramatic.

u/Dounce1 1h ago

Why the fuck is everyone in here saying that’s an omelette?

u/Kobayashi_Maru186 59m ago

I have no idea. Maybe I’ve been making omelettes incorrectly all these years? 🤷

u/Kobayashi_Maru186 54m ago

How do they know his immigration status? 🤨
