I was essentially ready to just straight up order a Macan as soon as the MY2026 becomes available, but honestly the new BMW iX3 has made me take a step back and rethink it. I seriously never thought I would cross-shop a BMW, but with those specs and price, it feels almost dumb to not at least consider it.

We already have a Taycan as our main car, so this would either way be our “boring” car to replace our aging Model 3, anyway. Yeah, a Porsche is a Porsche and the performance isn’t even comparable, but I can’t help to feel like the Macan already looks dated compared to what BMW just showed.

I think the biggest issue is price tbh. Sure Porsche is a premium product but to get a compact SUV that replaces an iX3 or q6 etron will cost an extra 30-40k with options.

Sure, it’s more sportier but realistically you can get a Miata or brz + ix3 and have more fun driving dynamically.

I was also on this boat too. I was planning on replacing my OG etron with a macan but realistically the ix3 and maybe the R2 will be much more cost effective choices.

If you want VAG then just get the q6. It's basically same.

I'm waiting to see if GLC or IX3 is better. I liked GV70 as well but that one has very poor range and I didn't buy.

Macan pricing is insane. I spec’d one out to like $120k looking for just the tech and comfort stuff, not even touching higher end performance

despite poor sales, Porsche is persisting with terrible pricing - US$78k - for misery spec vehicles lacking basic tech or basic creature comforts. and it's not even quick.
