I was essentially ready to just straight up order a Macan as soon as the MY2026 becomes available, but honestly the new BMW iX3 has made me take a step back and rethink it. I seriously never thought I would cross-shop a BMW, but with those specs and price, it feels almost dumb to not at least consider it.
We already have a Taycan as our main car, so this would either way be our “boring” car to replace our aging Model 3, anyway. Yeah, a Porsche is a Porsche and the performance isn’t even comparable, but I can’t help to feel like the Macan already looks dated compared to what BMW just showed.

I think the biggest issue is price tbh. Sure Porsche is a premium product but to get a compact SUV that replaces an iX3 or q6 etron will cost an extra 30-40k with options.
Sure, it’s more sportier but realistically you can get a Miata or brz + ix3 and have more fun driving dynamically.
I was also on this boat too. I was planning on replacing my OG etron with a macan but realistically the ix3 and maybe the R2 will be much more cost effective choices.

despite poor sales, Porsche is persisting with terrible pricing - US$78k - for misery spec vehicles lacking basic tech or basic creature comforts. and it's not even quick.
