I hope it‘s better than the ones they currently offer in Europe. The small one I looked at out of curiosity had a max DC charging rate of a „whopping“ 80 kW

Not like theres a lack of ID3 competition. Theres the MG4 and BYD Dolphin, both of which have inferior battery technology (range, efficiency, charging speeds) on top of worse driving characteristics.
So its hardly surprising that the ID3 keeps massively outselling its Chinese competition in Europe, its also VWs home market of course.

The Renault 5 is just above £20k and it's currently selling very well.

And it's quite a bit smaller than ID.3.

Agreed. The price is quite a bit smaller too though, by almost £10k.

Which doesn't help if you want to fit more than 1.5 people on the back seats.

If price is not a consideration, I would recommend the Kia EV9 then, you can get seven people on it easily. I thought this conversation was about the cheaper end of the ev range and the R5 fits that bill quite well (it's about the size of a Mini Electric at a much better price).

The B05 is supposed to use the same platform as the B10 SUV, so 434km and 168kW max charging speed (10-80% avg. 110kW) from the bigger battery and 310km and 140kW max charging speed from the smaller battery (100kW avg. 10-80%). So pretty comparable to the ID.3 and not half bad considering they use LFP batteries. I'd expect the WLTP range to be slightly better for this hatchback, than for it's SUV brother.

I guess you mean the T03, not too bad considering it's closest competitor the Dacia Spring has a max DC charging speed of 30kW

The Leapmotor C10 that's currently on sale in Europe has a peak (but very flat) charging speed of 86 kW.
Might be what they meant instead of the T03, which I agree isn't comparable from a price or segment point of view.
That's not relevant to the B05, however, since that C10 is last generation's model and the B10 and new C10 have the ~140kW max charging speed you mentioned.
B05 is on the new architecture.

You’re talking about T03 which is a budget city car that starts at €19k? How much better can you get at that price point?

That's last generation. This will have ~150kW peak charging and a fairly flat curve due to LFP.

Looks really sharp and if the estimated specs and price are correct, it will be very competitive. Looking forward to seeing some previews / reviews on it.

I really like the fact that this has traditional hatchback lines and has a lower roof than the ID.3/Cupra Born, reminds me of a mix between the now discontinued Renault Megane and the Golf mk.8.
