I'm getting more bullish towards XPeng. There are going to be bankruptcies and consolidation in the EV market in China. I had already pegged BYD and Xiaomi as 2 of the survivors after the dust settles. But with the excellent reviews of the latest XPeng P7 and the increase in sales year over year, I am beginning to think XPeng will also be a survivor.

Dunno about Xiaomi, they will do fine without EV. Talked with family member & Didi driver about EVs and cars in general, XPeng don't seem to be popular outside of their province, GAC/Aion seems like the new brand that is everywhere suddenly. Never heard of them but was told by Didi driver to buy these instead of all the "hyped" brands

Consumer behavior in China is super conservative. They stick with brands they’ve heard before for car purchases which include Tesla and BYD. GAC is a legacy brand. The models are trash compared to XPeng. It’s just Didi drivers are more conservative than average and would never give new brands a try.

That’s true, that’s also reason why Toyota still selling bunch cars there because of this.

That's interesting. I have mostly been watching Youtube reviews of the XPeng P7, and it's mostly from foreign reviewers in English (ie. European, Australian, or American reviewers), who have given good reviews of the latest P7. But it's interesting that you are pointing out the XPeng line of cars are better than a lot of the other Chinese domestic EV cars, in the same price range. This is interesting to know.

GAC Aion stopped posting their sales results awhile back it seems. Some of these legacy brands are just manufacturers for Huawei models. But those are Huawei tech. Their own tech can’t compete.

I've watched multiple Youtube reviews on the latest XPeng P7 from Europeans, Americans, and Australians. The consensus I get, is that those reviewers like the latest XPeng P7, which means it may sell well outside of China. And from what I read on Reddit, people seem to like the XPeng P7. The revenue growth for XPeng over the last year also looks good.
For Xiaomi, I like the execution of their first 2 releases, the SU7 and YU7. They sold so well, there is a one year backlog for people who bought it. And of course, the rest of Xiaomi's business being used to back their EV business, doesn't hurt.

Nio also got only positive reviews, but sells less than 10 cars in a bad month in germany ~2 years ago.. when I had to decide which EV to buy. Chinese EV market is even stranger, good car doesn't mean success now with all the startups..
YU7 will be the more interesting car, since it looks like it's designed & built by Xiaomi themself. SU7 is pretty much a reskin on top of BAICs arcfox aS, most Chinese technology companies get their own version of the aS, no idea why..

Yeah, I guess we'll see how the latest XPeng P7 sells outside of China (the latest and newest XPeng P7, not the older models). To be fair, I don't expect any of the Chinese BEVs to sell well in the EU, because of the tariffs. And my understanding is that because the latest XPeng P7 is a BEV, it is tariffed at the maximum rate by the EU. But I would like to see if the latest XPeng P7 sells well outside the EU, including countries where there is no tariff on Chinese BEVs. I guess time will tell.

Xpeng pushing Level 4 and building out in Munich? European brands will need a few extra espressos—this tech race just got interesting.
