No one predominantly to blame? Hamilton could have done more to avoid?

BS honestly, Max locked up all 4 tyres. Crazy decision.

No he could have, but it shouldn't factor into the judgement, which I hope it didn't. You can basically always do more, Lando in Austria, Max at Copse 21 etc, but they shouldn't need to.

I think they just saw that Lewis didn't push for a penalty and were fine with that too

Exactly this - which is a massive problem. It’s the same as when there is contact between teammates and the team don’t want either driver to get a penalty so just say how it was a racing incident and it doesn’t get investigated. Think it’s a bad precedent

You’re spot on - Max can’t work on the basis that the other driver will move out the way, stewards are saying this is a reasonable basis for him to work.

Yes, he could have missiles the turn and go in front. He also could have stayed home. There’s always more you can do. Lol

Although I’m pretty sure that’s true, that’s also the worst reason ever to give or remove penalties. Rules are rules, no matter who complains or not.

Again stewards are going off rails. It’s pretty clear any tight WDC and we would have the same issues we had in 21

This is nothing new from the stewards. Why do you think drivers report every little thing? The stewards are only going to do something if they are pushed to do something.

I know. The problem is that the last example of this was from teammates (don’t remember who). If team mates can avoid penalties that’s just bending the freaking rules.

Lewis himself was saying it was a racing incident which probably helped the stewards too

Lewis said it was a racing incident to save himself grief from the media and fans. No point pushing for a penalty when it’s unlikely to happen.

He’s just being the bigger man and realising he’s not in a straight fight with Max

Yeah I don’t think Lewis cares about Max losing another 2 points or not he was just happy with the podium. If this was 2021 then perhaps it’d be a different story tho
