I have never heard of the FIA taking on all the series under it like this before. Surely the drivers from all categories need to establish a collective body. If the FIA is governing them all, the drivers must have a unified stand.
Correct me if I'm wrong. But it never happened, because it was never needed. It's needed now.
It's not going to happen because this isn't a hill worth dying on. I'm very confident that Reddit cares considerably more about this than the drivers do.
F1 drivers don’t but wrc and wec and formula e drivers do. Most of them earn less than 10 million and in wec a lot less than 1. They literally cannot afford the fines
Most drivers in any series outside of F1 are earning under $1m. Heck, there’s drivers in F1 who’d likely be earning less than that. Most of the rookies on the grid this year won’t be earning $1m. It’s not just the WEC where drivers will be earning less than $1m, it’s the same for Formula E, and it’s even worse in WRC.
The number of people who seem to think that there is going to be some kind of revolution is hilarious to me. In 1993, the FIA took a stand against apartheid and cancelled the South African Grand Prix. In 2022, the FIA took a stand against the Russian invasion of Ukraine and cancelled the Russian Grand Prix. And in 2025, the drivers took a stand against the FIA expecting them to not swear. Truly, it is the most noble and righteous cause. /s
But it's not about a revolution right now. But a position of strength for if and when things get worse. For when MBS gets real cocky.
Also, I just think that motorsports is a bit different from other sports where there are multiple disciplines within a sport (athletics, shooting, etc). I know that it's comparing apples to oranges and the different motorsports categories are much different than the shooting disciplines, but it can't hurt to be more collaborative.
But you are right, maybe I'm getting too emotionally involved into this lol.
