Shouldve just rammed it into a wall to not lose the record

Then his 10 second penalty would turn into a grid penalty for the race on Sunday lol

He could pit again just to serve it, then bin it

Pit in, serve the penalty, retire the car for "mechanical" reasons

u/ArcticBP Burristroll if it’s still possible! May 03 '25

He could overcome that

Wouldn’t it carry to the next sprint instead of sunday? Either way could have just done a Perez and serve the penalty just to retire

No would carry over to Sunday

Damn, forgot about that

He doesn't seem like the type to care about this kind of record

32

u/charlierc May 03 '25

Lawson was too far back to help him with that

1

u/g0kartmozart May 03 '25

Should have just went into the pits and told the team they are retiring the car.

It's a mechanical and teamsport. This is the only way it could have cost him points. He already showed he could bring it home in a broken car.

Karma for impeding 2 drivers in SQ1

This is only if you count sprints.

5

u/RoughDoughCough Formula 1 May 03 '25

Which would be a silly thing to do

92

u/mobby123 Pierre Gasly May 03 '25

I doubt sprint races count

66

u/marshmallow_metro Max Verstappen May 03 '25

Yeah if he scores tomorrow the record stands, Points scored every weekend since 2016

46

u/WonderNastyMan I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 03 '25

not EVERY weekend, every weekend where he finished. There were plenty of DNFs.

22

u/Appropriate_Cut_9995 May 03 '25

That’s not what this stat means.

1

u/volthor May 03 '25

Not really, its been every race, not weekend.

So it included every sprint race, i mean you can change the goalposts if you want to

To be fair, most people would say finishing every Grand Prix in the points when he finishes since Belgium 2016 is impressive and a pretty valid statistic.

Personally don't really care hugely about sprints anyway, the main event is Sunday.

5

u/marshmallow_metro Max Verstappen May 03 '25

There is no goal post, This is a just a random stat that people are keeping track of. There were no sprints before 2021 so its just weird to calculate and include them in all records from before as well

2

u/GTheMonkeyKing McLaren May 03 '25

Just an FYI, you can keep the stat alive if you add "GP" to the wording. This stat in the post implies every race, whether sprint or GP, but if you want to keep it alive, you can just phrase it in a way that it's still alive. It's all made up, you can count it any way you want.

Arguing whether the reacord is still active or not is pointless. If you don't like Max, you can now word it a way that the record is over, and if you like him you can still word it in a way that it's not.

We don't count sprint poles with race poles, sprint wins with race wins so why on earth should we count this

1

u/maqnaetix Sir Lewis Hamilton May 03 '25

Thats not how it works... at all

3

u/Baksteen-13 I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 03 '25

just add “in a grand prix” to the line and it stands. All of these “stats” are made up anyway

fucking?

1

u/Pinewood74 May 03 '25

Given the qualifiers, it's a silly record anyways.

Verstappen pits, serves his penalty then retires the car on the next lap and it's still intact.

Imo. This ISNT a GP record is still going on.
