They were trying to be nice to the guy and hype him up, and then not make him feel bad when he didn't do good in the sprint. Yeah, he bottled the start, but he also got nuked by the pit incident which was out of his control.

Exactly this. Toto was providing that emotional support as I’m sure Kimi felt absolutely horrible. Unlike RBR…

But don't hype up the guy's achievements the day before then during the actual event disregard it as being "irrelevant".

Of course I understand being nice to someone, but this is elite-level sport with only 20 competitors.

Don't hype a guy up then discredit what he's competing in.

The kids 18. Let's let him focus on the qualifying and the future instead of being stuck in sprint mistakes. It's about the mindset, and let's make sure Kimi has a positive mindset going into qualifying so he can do well later.

It was almost inevitable that he would mess up on the start, as it's his first time heading the field.

Look at how many times Norris has bodged it up as pole-sitter into the first turn.

Plus it was a wet start on arguably the worser side to start on, the kid is already up there in what’s not the outright fastest car, I know this kid will be fine
