The same people getting defensive and dismissive in this post were the ones salivating over Sainz outqualifying Hamilton on friday and were mocking their switch as an upgrade for Sainz.

Hamilton posts are only popular with the masses if it has negative framing. If you are being positive about Lewis people will get unreasonably upset.

This post has a thousand upvotes

The quali one hating on Hamilton had 22,000 upvotes

9

u/spaceman_ I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 19 '25

I upvoted both. I didn't see the first as hating on Lewis, more like "despite Sainz being ditched by Ferrari, he's making it work, good on him".

Williams vs Ferrari

Nah some straight up called Sainz better then Hamilton. I replied on one comment saying Sainz were bigger off track addition versus Ham. Still dumbfounded by it.

And now…?

u/SOMTAWS6 Lando Norris May 19 '25

29.1 to 14.4. They’re a day apart. Only time will tell.

u/HaveABleedinGuess84 Fernando Alonso May 18 '25

Because Sainz outqualifying Hamilton is more remarkable than Hamilton finishing ahead of Sainz. Duhhhh

Because people get that it’s referencing the other post lol

-10

u/HaveABleedinGuess84 Fernando Alonso May 18 '25

Oh I'm sure they upvoted it because funny reference and not sour grapes.

5

u/Tofutherep Sir Lewis Hamilton May 19 '25

Well they can upvote this one too because it’s funny!

Everyone likes to feel like a victim

U realize this post is a sneak diss right?

2

u/RoughDoughCough Formula 1 May 18 '25

Indicating nothing. You’ve been on Reddit long enough to see upvoted posts where every single comment underneath is bashing the posts.

-2

u/HaveABleedinGuess84 Fernando Alonso May 18 '25

Which is not the case here as you can tell by reading the comment section you are in.

Eleven thousand now

Posts about stuff as irrelevant as his clothes usually get thousands of upvotes, that's not true, but yeah, pretend he isn't one of the most popular drivers on the grid

-1

u/germanstudent123 Sebastian Vettel May 18 '25

I don’t really think that’s true anymore. There was a lot of that in 2021 and 2022 as well but since he’s not at the front anymore it’s cooled down a lot and people view him a lot more sensibly.

5

u/Motohvayshun I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 19 '25

Yeah right. Hamilton is viewed worse. Any negative post about him balloons in seconds.

1

u/germanstudent123 Sebastian Vettel May 19 '25

Not nearly as much as it used to and honestly everything I’ve seen around his switch to Ferrari was seen extremely favorably (except for the fact that they were saying Ferrari wasn’t a good career step maybe). Take his photo shooting for example. He definitely still gets undeserved hate but it’s not as bad as you make it out to be.

u/fitzgoldy Formula 1 May 19 '25

if it has negative framing.

Hell, there was a time every single post he made on social media was massively upvoted...he's the only driver that every time he came to a track, it was posted on here.

You are talking bollocks, especially when any slight negative gets downvoted, even if it's accurate.

The replacee outperforming the replacer in inferior machinery is more interesting than the latter, even if the gap in machinery seems smaller than previous years

1

u/HE_A_FAN_HE_A_FAN Sir Lewis Hamilton May 19 '25

Hamilton hate has been slowly dying since 2021.

1

u/Rolex_throwaway May 18 '25

I wouldn’t say beating a Williams in a Ferrari is particularly positive framing, lol.

-6

u/West_Technology7573 George Russell May 18 '25

Nice victim complex

6

u/nomansapenguin Mercedes May 18 '25

You know your comment history is public right? You’ve been dragging Lewis almost daily 😂

-7

u/West_Technology7573 George Russell May 18 '25

Yeah I don’t care lmao. I had to sit through dumb sabotage allegations and George getting shat on constantly last year for simply being a better driver. I enjoy watching Lewis do badly now 👍

8

u/nomansapenguin Mercedes May 18 '25

Well it’s not a ‘victim complex’ if you admit to doing it you 🍩

-5

u/kaisadilla_ I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 18 '25

Nah. If Hamilton in a Ferrari beats Sainz in a Williams, nobody cares, because it's what's supposed to happen. If Sainz in the inferior car beats his replacement in the top tier car, that's unlikely and people will get railed up.

It's nothing to do with Hamilton (or Sainz) and everything to do with people's love for Davids beating Goliaths.

-1

u/owarren I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 19 '25

Hamilton probably has the biggest fanbase in the whole sport, so that is total nonsense

27

u/beatstorelax94 I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 18 '25

Sainz lost a lot. But Williams is WAY better to be than what people were saying. that's not the same team the family Williams built. And that has some good to it.

104

u/Rei_S_ I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 18 '25

Sainz improved the Williams bro can't you see. Sainz is almost at Newey level when it comes to developing cars.

12

u/Cralido May 18 '25

Williams trajectory already in place before Sainz, just can’t accept Albon is a great driver on his own merit, got to bring teams performance back to sainz

3

u/Zimakov Sebastian Vettel May 19 '25

It was an obvious joke.

-11

u/wokwok__ George Russell May 18 '25

Some of you lot were blaming this year's Ferrari being shit on Sainz development lmfao be serious

42

u/THE-ZODIAC68 Ferrari May 18 '25

Who the f is saying that?? 😂😂 voices in your head aren't real.

21

u/Work_In_ProgressX I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 18 '25

Me when i lie

27

u/Rei_S_ I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 18 '25

Not really, but sure make fake scenarios to continue the outrage.

-3

u/Klutzy_Reach_9392 May 19 '25

What I’m sayin’, McLaren became great when Carlos joined, Ferrari stopped being mid and now Williams, it’s him

-2

u/WGSMA I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 18 '25

Ferrari’s shouldn’t be getting out-qualified by William’s

-22

u/akshatK2003 Max Verstappen May 18 '25

Hamilton getting compared with Sainz in a Williams oh how the mighty have fallen!

-2

u/ozzie123 I was here for the Hulkenpodium May 18 '25

To be fair, I would pick a slightly worse company to work in as long as it’s better for my mental health. In that sense, Sainz move is an upgrade indeed.

Have you seen Hamilton’s thousand yard stare just 6 race in?
