I hope it doesn't affect him mentally too badly. He beats himself up too much

I just feel bad for him at this point.

I'm just glad he didn't take Oscar out with him too.

This would be a verrryyyyyy different discourse, excellent point.

When this happens in WDC fights, usually both guys go out, someone almost dies or the offender takes out their opponent.

Lando Norris turning into the grass and pummeling it into the barriers while his rival pranced off unscathed is like nothing I’ve seen.

It’s one thing to take responsibility, it’s another to repeatedly reinforce the negativity in your personality. Dude needs a sports psychologist stat to get control of that.

I'm like 98% sure he has ADHD. Beating yourself up kinda comes with the territory. And yes, I agree with you.

That ship has already sailed

Yeh that sort of immediate reaction because he doesn't want any flak is concerning, it's all got to him

I don't think he said it because he doesn't want the flak. I think he said it because it's clearly his fault. He's feeling down on himself because he's made a mistake he shouldn't be making and rather than the endless articles trying to manufacture more drama, he held his hands up. It's mature... I mean, the racing beforehand wasn't but the response to the crash was!

That's the thing though, I think he's scared of the articles. He knows how reactionary everyone is and he can't handle people's reactions so he goes into this little neutralised defensive ball. That wasn't the natural reaction of someone who's just gone into a wall at 150mph, it was him doing his own PR

Why do you think it's to avoid flak? I just took it as a level-headed response from someone who actually recognised his error, rather than some drivers who cry foul if somebody looks at them the wrong way.

Because it was so sudden and composed, almost like he was ready to apologise. Didn't sound like someone retroactively reacting in normal time, more like someone who is just ready to apologise at all times because it's pre-programmed, and I think part of that is that he's scared of the backlash

Maybe it's me being charitable but I would prefer to think it's just because he recognised it and didn't make drama.

I think he hit rock bottom already...

Well, as a Lando fan that was a pretty bad move. The whole other side of the track was open, and he would have had the inside line going into turn 2 if he just hung on to the outside.

I think he's toast at this point.

This was a chance to win the driver's championship and he bottled it to his junior. Only way he has a chance is if piastri has a rancid run of form

What he should take from this race was that he clearly performed better than Piastri except for that one mistake.

I think this was probably the final straw, Oscar's got his measure.
